Tough loss!
Even with an off night, we had a chance to tie it at the end.
Proud of The Gaels and the exciting run it has been. Looks forward to the NIT and hopefully the guys will be up for the challenge.

I was hoping that my 500th post would be congratulating the Gaels for repeating as champs and going to the dance for the 3rd consecutive year. Unfortunately, even before the game began, I expected that Manhattan would be the fresher squad, with more energy due to Masiello having used his deep bench in the prior two games. I felt that our Gaels would keep things close, but I anticipated they might not have enough left in the tank to prevail. However, they showed once again that they have tremendous heart and never stop competing. I am proud of them for having provided us with so many thrills thus far this season, and even though they likely won't make it to the Big Dance, they have become my favorite Gael team of all time, and I was at the famous game against Louisville at MSG. So hold your heads up Men, rest up and heal and take this bitter loss out on your next opponent(s).

Heartbreaking loss. Can't imagine how the players feel. Despite not getting to the dance I have to say this was my favorite team in the TC years. just loved the way they pulled together after the Canisius loss and gave us a great and exciting stretch of games. This team has heart and I truly believe they will bounce back and make a run in the NIT. Have to figure out the PG spot for the NIT and going forward to next year. Too much on DL. Handling the ball to break the press, running the offense, trying to guard Brown and still able to grab double digit rebounds the last 2 games. tremendous effort on his part.

For some reason this one doesn't hurt too much for me. I guess its because I really didn't expect us to be here at all this year. Hopefully we have some fun in the NIT. The guys coming back next year have some work to do to get better. I think we need a PG who's got some toughness, and this is no knock on AJ or Tavon. I think we need a more complete PG to play with them.

Didn't deserve this one unfortunately. Fatigue definitely had something to do with it, but Manhattan was playing 3 games in 3 nights also, so no excuses. Some thoughts:
1. Credit to the Jaspers. Clearly not as talented as we are, but simply wanted this game more than we did and had a championship heart. And that counts for a lot in these games. Gotta feel good for their group of guys, who now can finally taste an NCAA berth, and deservedly so. 2. Poole's early foul trouble really hurt us tonight. Totally changes our substitution patterns and forced us to play Sledge and Gomez when those were not our preferred options. 3. DL3 missed a bunch of shots around the rim that he usually makes. If he has his usual performance we likely win this game even with all the troubles we were having. Also credit to Brown, whose presence I'm sure had something to do with the DL3 misses. 4. Not sure what happened on that last play there, but just seemed poorly executed by us. We had the ball with 19 seconds or so to start the possession, so if we're going to wait for the final shot and take a chance on a 3 then we better be able to get a decent look off. Otherwise, makes more sense to just take the clear lane and pick up an easy two point bucket. 5. Might seem small, but thought a turning point was when we were up by 1 early in the second half and DL3 got fouled and missed both FTs. Manhattan came down and got a bucket, and really felt that was a big momentum swing that we were never able to recover from. 6. ESPN2 signal was spotty once again this year. Not sure what the issue is, but would like to think that the MAAC would've addressed it with the network to make sure it didn't happen two years in a row. 7. We had some inexcusable defensive lapses that really killed us at times, including a stretch where we lost Richards on ball screens and he drained a few killer threes. 8. Willing to bet money that our clock management and final possession decision making improves dramatically next season. I'm sure the coaching staff recognize this as an area for improvement, and just like they did with last year's issues for this season, they will get the guys to improve in this area. 9. Not a great advertisement for the MAAC with both teams playing well below their A games. Manhattan brought their B game and we brought our C game. 10. Round of applause to our guys and our staff who gave us a great run this year and many memorable moments, but came up just a little short in the end. Let's make a run in the NIT and end the season on a high note.

Congrats to this team... They are special and deserve more! As much as it pains me now I hope Jasper's win a game or two.

Agreed Chels. Sure the coaching staff will address that for next season, but for tonight not sure we had many other options unfortunately. Whenever we put Sledge or Gomez in the game it threw us off our game.

What just happened? Didn't they just turn it over? Still don't know what happened with that play. Didn't they throw it out of bounds? Came back from a break and Manhattan had the ball back. Announcers said nothing. Anyone know? I was wondering the same thing. My guess is that during the time out they either they ruled that an Iona player touched it or Iona didn't get the ball in/turned it over before the telecast resumed. Go Gaels!!!

We are less than mediocre when we're not knocking down 3's.
6-21 tonight, many of them pretty good looks... 4 very good shooters all having an off night = doom.

Tough night for the Gaels all around. St. Mary's getting manhandled by Gonzaga.
Go Gaels!!!

Took a look at the MAAC board. Amazing how classless, and stupid, morons like SIenasoup and emptys, both Siena fanatics, are. What did you expect? They have no basketball of their own to talk about.

Go Gaels!!! The weird thing is that the clock showed 2:07 and then I believe 1:54 and Manhattan was in bounding when they came back from commercial. I do recall the camera showing TC referencing that someone was held. Perhaps Super or someone else at the game can shed some light.

Really can't recall that play.
Any comment on no foul call on long Armand 3 near the end?
