I'm not surprised by this at all. I'm actually happy for Manhattan because this will strengthen our chances of having two teams that make the tournament this year.

2.8 points a game. Just like I thought Iona fans were over rating him I think we are now over fearing him

I heard that Pankey is not well liked by many members of the team. My source is in the Manhattan AD. He is reported to be critical of one of Manhattans best players and that is not sitting well with the team or anyone around the team. I doubt that his ego will like be treated as second best to Lawrence.
Another issue is Lawrence wants to play SF. His handler made that very clear. I am sure Masiello told him that would be the plan but I doubt that will be the case. Lets see how that works out for Lawrence. They have Lawrence, Samson Usilo and Richards at the three. Not everyone is going to be happy.
I think they will have chemistry issues. I would not trade Laury for either of them. Lawrence might have great potential but he has not proven anything yet. Laury. when his head is screwed on right, is the better player at this point. I like our starting five (my lineup game) against theirs but they have better depth.
This is good for the MAAC and this year should be fun.

Agreed. Don't see how Lawrence can play the SF with Usilo, Andujar and Richards. Richards is their best 3 point shooter by far and they are going to have to find plenty of minutes for him. Lawrence has great potential, would have loved to see him play up front with Laury and IW

The MAAC will be fun and if the Gaels can handle their business in Conference play again. Take 4 out of the 6 OOC away games starting @ Wofford on ESPN we will be in good shape and make a strong case for a 2nd team in March Madness from the MAAC. IMO

86, I am very surprised that the Manhattan AD would "let out" that type of info about Pankey. Seems un-professional to me, though I'm not surprised that in this day of social media 'leaks' we hear things like that. We all know that discourse in a locker room is cured by winning. I still feel that Iona has the best team in the MAAC, but Lawrence reinforces my belief that Manhattan is second best. "Q" and Siena lead the second tier, with home team Siena a threat to steal the tourney.

This type information leaks out all the time from training staff, student managers, administrative staff, player's friends, etc. I had the skinny on a big program from one of these sources.

Agree with the poster who said that it's great for the MAAC when Manhattan and Iona are good. Throw Siena into the mix and you can't ask for anything more. It's like MLB when Yankees, Red Sox and Dodgers are all on top. It's great for the conference and will keep the MAAC relevant all season long if the teams live up to their expectations.
I still think we're slightly better than Manhattan on paper. The more frustrating part is that they took us to the woodshed in the recruiting battle this offseason, although I'm confident we'll bounce back next year.

I was shocked as I had only heard good things about Pankey. The info caught me off guard.

05, they recruited better than us why? They are playing in big venues and can use that, their facilities aren't any better than ours, and they haven't had the same success as we have, its the only difference.

Don't think the fact that they are playing a handful of games in big arenas is what put them over the top against us in recruiting battles this year. You think the Cinci kid went to Manhattan because they're playing in the Mohegan tourney or because they're playing a game against an irrelevant program at Barclays in an empty arena? Doubt it. Sometimes you win, sometimes you lose. Think it's as simple as that.

As it turned out Lawrence was always a lock to transfer to Manhattan because of his relationship with the coaching staff. they had a very good recruiting class its as simple as that. if the roster stays the same that would leave 3 scholarships for the '15 class plus Bessick being eligible. those are 3 vital ships for the staff to fill to keep pace as Manahttan and QPAC are involved with some very good recruits
