5 years or so ago Siena had a fine team which was the class of the MAAC...It developed a distain and a superiority for all other MAAC teams...It came with a penalty, that being, it left its fans trapped in the era of that time zone of which they cannot escape. In the past 4 years they have become at best another mid-maac team which has lost 42 games in the last 2 years...By winning a bottom dweller tourney that has trouble filling its invitations over a very mediocre west coast team at tilted Pepsi they have regained their upity attitude...Along with that, many basketball fans have been swayed to that opinion... Siena has improved, but still has a way to travel....

Irregardless of what ones perception is of their fans, a relevant Siena team is good for the MAAC.
Besides, they're not Fordham fans.

The Siena message board reveals a lot of underlying insecurity on the part of their fan base. Among other bizarre things, they had a thread comparing the endowments of various MAAC schools (using outdated numbers, but I'm sure they don't realize that), in an effort to convince themselves that Siena's budget deficit, which is very serious, isn't really all that bad.
Siena fans are very Fordham like with their mixture of insecurity and a superiority complex.
But I agree with Cjb. The MAAC is much better off without Siena being an RPI anchor each year.

Basketball wise, Siena has MUCH more than Fordham to brag about. It's not even close. Siena's program has been down for a while but they seem to be coming back. Fordham's program has been down for so long, that they have to look way up in order to see bottom.

My sense is that Patsos has done a far better job of developing his players than Pecora has over the length of Pecora's initial and current Lamb contract. That would include Patsos time with the Hounds. Pecora gets $750K @ year which is highway robbery re what his teams have produced. Fordham should really show the guy the door as regards his return on its investment. He has some nice pieces this year but can he improve Fordham's "team" game. Severe was a real chucker last year; he will have to change his modus operandi this year. Can't believe that Forham didn't off Pecora and hire Mihalich when he was on the market.

A visit to the Siena board can at times be rewarding.....Subject titled ''College basket ball's secret visits'' will lead you to article by Jeff Goodman listing all scrimmages up to seasons start...It will help me and you for the next couple of weeks to hopefully get an idea of many teams strengths and week points....

Even the Albany hicks were allowed a taste of success. After all we must thank them for keeping the Cracker Barrel chain and hundreds of their employees in business. Siena is basically eggs noodles with ketchup if you know what I mean.
We all get what we deserve and in the end the cream rises...
Iona MAAC #1.... Always and forever.... Peace out Jeff Ruland. Get those knee transplants before its bone on bone big feller.
