You refer to "Today's society."--Does that also apply to the 20th century--1940s to 50s? Super.....That is either a sarcastic oriented question or from one that does not realize that a 70 year period of time does not fall into ''Todays Society'' realm.... I have it pretty well set up so as I can attend first game...Aide loves basketball...Tells me it is very popular in Ghana where it is called ''Net Ball''. Be sure to say hello.....[/quote] OT--not sarcastic at all--just wondering if those who lived in the '40s & '50 also "buried their head into the sands of reality and cannot deal with histories lessons which will as they have always done...REPEAT..." (BTW--born in the '40s) Glad you'll be at 1st game--I'll be up in Dec for a few!

Quinny is in a bad spot here, either they're going to lose this kid, or everybody is going to question them as to Why this is the lone WCC player eligible when 3 others have been declared ineligible?

According to Manhattan Board and some twitter accounts, it sounds like Giovanni Mclean is ineligible. Could be B.S. but have seen it from several sources now and it looks like he is ineligible.

"Concordia College is inspecting the academic records of all Westchester Community College transfer students – not just student-athletes – in the wake of a Journal News investigation revealing transcript fraud among WCC men's basketball players." ... "Fraser confirmed the probe Friday after the newspaper asked whether the college is reviewing the transcript of former WCC basketball player Franklin Rodriguez, a Bronx resident who signed with Concordia in June, but isn't currently listed on its roster." www.lohud.com/story/news/local/2014/10/31/wcc-transcript-fraud-prompts-broad-concordia-transcript-investigation/18244825/

Question for SID. I must admit that I was disappointed that Iona (seemingly) didn't offer either Thomas or McLean, when they were stolen from under our noses. Now, I'm wondering whether there was a "stay away" rumor about WCC players in the "Inside" World of College BB? Can you clarify, or even comment that I'm reading too much into the subject?

You are on to something ic59:

One look at the transcripts of Westchester Community College basketball stars Keith Thomas and Giovanni McLean was enough to convince a top assistant coach at a Northeast Division I program that they were off his recruiting list.
"I knew the transcripts were fake the minute I saw them," he said, citing higher-than-expected GPAs, mixed-up semesters and heavy course loads. "I've done this a long time. I've seen thousands of transcripts."
The assistant coach who did question the WCC transcripts said he didn't buy that Thomas had a 3.5 GPA while carrying a 21-credit course load. Junior college transfer students must have a 2.5 grade point average and average 12 hours of class credits per semester to be NCAA eligible. He was also suspicious, he said, when the semesters were listed in the wrong order.
"A registrar's office would never send a transcript with the wrong chronological year," he said. "I've never felt like that seeing a transcript before, and I told my boss we are no longer recruiting these guys."
You have to be kidding me!

Incredible. It reminds me of the Monty Python dead parrot routine - buyer beware.

I'm guessing the assistant is Parotta at Fordham as I think they were recruiting these guys. Hankin sounds like he mentally checked out three years before he retired. What is Quinny waiting for? From the Assistant's comments McLean isn't eligible.

3.5 GPA and 21hour credit load. Sounds like me when I was at Iona, except I had a 1.5 (the.5 was the same) and 12 hours. But I had to spend another 10 hours at the Drake learning how to play shuffleboard. Pretty much like me, when I think about it.

The winning by all means and ''The end justifies the means'' appears to be accepted not only in sports but in our general values...The coaches, players involved, schools monitoring staff, and those that knew what was going on, but took little action share shameful blame...

In looking over various team sites I am once again shocked by the views of the majority of posters... Their general tone of ''I hope it turns out alright for the kids, and they can play'' is twisted logic...There is little doubt they were also complicit, and if investigation reveals it to be so they should be punished accordingly...
