Good to see the passion. The team needs fans who care. Let's have a little patience to see what happens over the next several games. GO GAELS!

Wonder if everyone who is criticizing Cluess is taking into consideration the fact that the guy managed to coach us to a comfortable win against a mid pack conference team without having to sweat it out, all within hours of finding out the conference POY was unavailable to play. Talk about having to change your game plan on a whim. Seems like he must be good at making some kind of adjustments to get that outcome.

Hines did not play great tonight but he got 4 rebounds and although he missed a couple 3pt shots he has proven that he is a legit perimeter player. he is not going to be the bruiser we want him to be but he can fill an important role this year. grab a couple boards, knock down a couple shots and give both Laury and IW a few minutes on the bench and keep them fresh and out of foul trouble. Ellis at this point I really don't expect anything from him. this is his 3rd year in the program and I have not seen any real improvement. yes he can shoot but the last thing this team needs is a 3pt specialist coming off the bench considering who we have on the court already. who would he replace on the court? Don't really know what to expect from Dublin. I guess he can help defend or on the boards a little, but what I saw a few times tonight when he was on the court with AJ, IBN, IW and Casimir he is just not athletic enough to keep up on the offensive end. a few times when Iona really pushed the ball up the court, and that's when they look their best, the shot was already up and Dublin was just getting past halfcourt, just to stop and turn around and fall back on defense. to be fair it was the same thing with Hines a couple times tonight. not a knock on either one, but the other 4 on the court just play at a much quicker pace.

Cluess is an offensive genius ( except after timeouts), and although he has his faults he is as good of a chance of a long time successful coach as we will ever have. My point on the bench is right now there is just a huge drop off from the top 4 to the next 4 so it's hard to take them out. I do think each of them can contribute but you are not replacing any of the top 4 without a huge drop off. Amayo does have big potential, but he has to sit back and let the game come to him. Right now he is hurting the team offensively when he comes in. End wee did you see last years Northern Iowa game, Hines had a big time game from the perimeter (19 points I believe) so he has done it before from outside. What we perceive as "faults" is what makes TC a winner. He demands hard, unselfish work from his players, He expects his players to play intelligent basketball. If these aren't there, the player sits. It hasn't been an accident that he has won big at all levels. He sets high standards for his players and teams.

As far as coaching goes is there really any other MAAC coach you would prefer coaching Iona? As fans invested enough to post on this board, yes we will always find something to bitch about. but in reality, despite a decent turnover of players every year, so far TC has always figured it out and produced a very exciting and entertaining team on the court. 20 plus wins every year and postseason play every year. Even better is that he has the Iona program set up for continued success. Only 1 senior playing a major role this year.

All most of us are saying is we need more from the bench. We love the coach. Just need help. Hopefully guys can improve.

A lot of sweeping conclusions based on a 1 games sample for the bench players. If Hines had 15 points or Dublin had 12 rebounds would they be POY candidates? Time to get a grip and let things develop more. We need useful productive minutes from the bench, not new stars. If they get minutes on a consistent basis they will contribute enough to help the team." Just catching up and this is the best and most accurate post I've seen.

i like that hines plays hard, got a few rebounds, knows how to box out, if he can hit 1 3 a game that would be a fine role for him just got home, shocked that there is no laury thread, i guess if we ignore it didn't happen, hopefully he didn't happen to robinson

If it's only 1 game, it's not academics related. Guessing he missed a team meeting or something.

For those who say that ichoops doesn't have a clue, that is simply not true. He's has it but has misplaced it, but will find it again. I'm not sure of much, but one thing I'm sure of is that 90% of his posts are intended to stir the pot. Of course at times it seems that he also likes to smoke the pot. Probably for medical purposes.(SF)
