Infuriated me so much I tweeted him and got a response. He says we lost by double digits to Arkansas and Wofford and lost to Monmouth and G Mason, all true but he has to look at entire resume. But this does show how the no quality wins and our big loss margins will hurt us with some committee members, although I realize this guy probably has zero knowledge of mid majors and is not a typical committee member. Edit-Just tweeted me that he will revisit next week. That dude just lost any credibility he ever had. Show me the last time a team with an RPI in the 50s was a 16 seed. Just ignorant, half-assed journalism and lack of understanding of how the selection process works. Hack.

[/quote] Show me also a team that is odds on to win between 26 and 29 games who has won the majority of their OOC games which were on strenuous road trips that is picked as a 16 seed...The so called sports writer looks no further then the top teams and shows little attention or interest elsewhere...He will be fully exposed as a ''Fill in the blank'' selector who dismisses and has little knowledge or concern after the 10th seed... We have already won 11 games...He assumes as a 16 seed we will win 3 games in the MAAC tourney...That brings the total to 14 with 15 games left to play, most of which we will be heavily favorite (16 points tonight)... I sometimes wonder if the sport writers spend as much time or effort in doing or knowing their job as the average college basketball team site boarder.

I'd like to see us play VCU, just not in the first round. :-)

Wake's next game is 1/21 at home against Carolina. Next chance for a big upset. They lost in OT at Syracuse last game. Wake could help us out a bit. So could Rutgers if they knock off a couple of B1G teams and we beat St. Peter's.

Has SJU in a play-in game.
Our potential 2nd round opponent: SHU.
Fun!

Tau- The reality is that if we were fortunate to qualify and were slotted as a 13 or 14, of the 8 teams that are 3's and 4's (opponents), perhaps one or two would match up favorably for us. I'm just hopeful we could avoid a Big 10 type team with a huge front line.

Tau looking at KenPom's numbers, VCU is great at turning teams over, but if you handle the pressure their half court defense isn't all that great. They only rank 233 in effective FG defense. So I know its obvious, but the key to beating them is handling the pressure. They also shoot a lot of three's, don't get to the line that much and when they do they are a poor FT shooting team. They can be beaten by a team that shoots well and handles the ball well.

I know VCU's defense is relentless and they are a veteran team. Not sure if it's as good as San Diego States defense and they would be a much lower seed.
If a team is a 3 or a 4, they will probably have minimal deficiencies.
As I have mentioned before, a few years ago we were slotted against OSU and Harvard was matched up with New Mexico. I wish it was flip flopped as I felt New Mexico was beatable and a better match up for us.
I totally respect VCU, but if it was between VCU, Wisconsin, or Mich St, I would favor VCU as our match.

We throw lollipops soft lazy passes in the backcourt, it drives me crazy. Briante Weber is the best defender in the nation, he would have a field day with our mental lapses. No thanks
