For the umpteen year in a row the Iona baseball program goes about it unaccountable way...They are 8-28 this year which is one of their better records...Not a soul comes to any games, and it would be a good bet 100 percent of the students do not know there is a baseball team, where or when they play or care...They have lost their last 3 games by a total of 20 runs....... How, and for what reason is it allowed to continue?...A question that will probably be asked 15 years from now..... I have asked for at least a dozen years of the disgraceful program...I won't be around, but for some mysterious reason it continues on... We have two standards of sports at Iona. 1.....A stellar basketball program that brings prestige... 2.....A cellar dwelling baseball program that brings disgrace... I am sure the expense to run this program can be used in a more useful way... UPDATED BASKETBALL FACILITIES ?

OT, I can't disagree with you. Seems that Iona isn't concerned about W/L when it comes to baseball. Also, I have to admit that I've only been to ONE baseball game since the team moved to City Park. But at least that's one game more than Major League baseball. I do follow MLB, but don't follow the MAAC.

It seems like the baseball team has never recovered from losing scholarships following The Great Purge of 2003. IF the Administration is not going to give it the proper support, then pull the plug and distribute the funds among the Athletics Department and the General Iona Budget (can help defray the cost of much needed upgrades to the campus).

It is a disgrace what has happened since Z left, this coach should be fired immediately after the season, he is never at the summer tournaments recruiting and then we can't figure out why the has stunk every year since he took over.

Don't have any insight, but THINK that the baseball team gets the same # of scholarships as any other DI program. It might be 11 and a half, but I'm far from sure. Maybe SID can at least let us know the scholarship limits for baseball. Though he might be busy writing the BB recruiting article. I did hear that he's running out of erasers.

Now let's throw out some alternative facts to prop up that conclusion. Suggestion to the great deductive Reasoner (aka, legend in his own mind). If 44 students are on the baseball team, how can 100% of the students not know there is a baseball team? The team is 17 - 18 this year. Not great, but a far cry from the DICK's 8-28.

They are much better this year, so yes greg stay away only 4 teams get to go to the maac tournament 6 teams - Gaels have 6 conference games left. Three of them against 0-28 St. Peter's. Realistically they would have to lose 4 to be in danger. There's your jinx for you.

[/quote] Did I miss the DICK's: "Sorry guys/gals, I got my facts wrong on this year's baseball team?" The DICK is definitely a Trumpeter - double down even when wrong. Since the DICK likes to correct people on their syntax and grammar, he may want to start above.
