My mom and I used to eat at The Boston Spa, a place on Main St. across from Schrafft's. It was $1.25 for a three course meal. OT will top this one.
The Boston Spa was a friendly place, run by two Greek brothers George and Dana. We made friends among our fellow regulars.

From the memory file....... Mid 1930's Bleechers 50 cents Grand stands 75 cents..... Parking 25 cents Hot dog 5 cents Soda 5 cents Beer about 20 cents Trolley ride from New Rochelle line to NY transit line to 241st and White Plains Rd....5 cents...NYC transit with transfer ticket same nickel to 161st.... Total cost 5 cents...If you went a Brooklyn Dodgers game you could with transfers get there for the same 5 cents.... Public golf course....Round...50 cents... To caddie...18 holes you get 1.00 dollar plus any thing from a nothing tip to 50 cents with the older caddies getting the better t Movies...Saturday afternoon special.....5 cents...Two movies... a Serial, a Cartoon and a Movie race with winners spinning a wheel with a chance to win up to 5 dollars.... Pint of hand packed Ice Cream 10 cents..... My grand father paid his men 19 dollars a week, and they were begging at his door for a job.... My Dad was a city Police Officer...For quite a while he received no pay but a PROMISE TO PAY note which was accepted at places of business.... When heavy snow fell, hundreds of men shoveled the streets for 3 dollars a day... If you could afford it, a Blue plate special with desert cost 35 cents..... And you got soles and heels for your well worn shoes for about a buck...There were Shoe makers on every block...Today it would be hard to find one.... My three teenage aunts sat outside in the back yard all day sewing designs in socks which were delivered by the manufacture...They received 3 cents a pair On and on...Will give you an idea of the different generation gaps that I have had to deal with and why I am the way I am...
