Iona Men's Rugby. Undefeated,Metro NY Champs. They beat Seton Hall, Hofstra,William Patterson,Marist,Vassar,New Paltz, & Sacred Heart. Take on #15 ranked Boston Univ,This Saturday 11-6. @ Iona

They are a club sport, but I believe they either did or still do play in Div. 2. They were ranked a couple of years ago, but are currently unranked.

Iona Mens Rugby was recently written up in rugby mag.(Oct 2010) "Iona Rides Wave of Unity"www.rugbymag.com Winner of Metro D-2 with a 7-0 record. Also scrimmaged Syracuse (Homecoming)& Rutgers Univ won both. Played in last Spring "Mothers day Tourney on L.I. and won all their games. Take on #15 ranked Boston Univ today @ 3p.m. on campus. They will likely be ranked next wk after beating B.U. today.Great support with Bag Pipers,Cheerleaders, Faculty, old Iona Ruggers (started in 1977) & classmates.

IONA Wins !! defeats #15 ranked Boston University 38-12 on Saturday Nov 6th. Iona Men's Rugby team continues it's quest for the Northeast D-2 Championship.Having qualified for the Championship tournament with a Metro league undefeated season. Iona is now in the "Final 4 Northeast Champs". The team will be leaving campus for Bowdoin, Maine on Friday Nov 12.The games will be played Saturday & Sunday.This Team has it's sights on the National D-2 championship in Denver, Co.

Iona Rugby takes 4th place in Northeast finals. A galiant effort by the Gaels but, a multiple of key starters injured, was too much to over come as they lost to #14th ranked Bentley on Sunday. Iona finishes 8-2 for the year. Iona put themselves on the D-2 Rugby map by winning the Metro league. Bob Sweeney, a rugger from the early years of Iona rugby and in the Iona Rugby "Wall of Fame" came up from New Hampshire to join the Iona Nation fans.
