Some of the best golf I have had the pleasure to watch. The Reed/McIlroy match and the Mickelson/Garcia match were as good as I have ever witnessed. I wonder if Arnie's 1975 Ryder Cup bag on the first tee on Friday had anything to do with it.
USA!

Having played and watched hundreds of matches throughout my long involvement with Golf, I have never seen such disgraceful display of sportsmanship put on by the rowdies of American fans... Their actions broke all rules of golf conduct that were built up for well over a hundred years... These actions only added credence to my opinion that we are rapidly involving into a third world nation...I well remember a time when you could hear a pin drop during a important moment...Not only are the shouts louder, but they are becoming laced with insults and profanity. I have been told that this is the new world, and I better get use to it...I have been proud of my generation...If these rapid growing selfish actions are a forerunner of the world to come, I thank god for allowing me to live in our time, and let those that remain deal with what is to come...

OT, I have to disagree with your assessment. I am proud of your generation, too, but I do not believe that any other generation should be painted with a broad brush because of the actions of a few. Were there some fans who went overboard? Sure, but even Captain Darren Clarke and the target of some vile comments, Rory McIlroy, said in the post tourney presser that it was the 1% of fans. They also said it was American fans that pointed out the idiots to security for ejection. Please don't tell me you agree with the reporter who said during that press conference that he was "embarrassed to be an American" because of some of the antics. That guy can move to Europe as far as I am concerned. Please tell me that you don't agree with one of our reporters (in an effort to further pussify this country) who asked if beer shouldn't be served until after 11:00am. Without hesitation the Euro team, in unison, said "No"! Why should we be more upset than the Euros? The Euros said that they give it to US players when we go over there for the Ryder Cup - and will when we arrive in Paris in 2018. It's the way the Ryder Cup works, the players - both squads - work up the crowd. It is different than any other golf tournament. Good natured banter is expected. When fans go overboard and yell in a player's backswing or tell someone to "suck a dick" (both of which happened this past weekend) that fan should be ejected (and that happened this weekend also after the culprit was identified by American and Euro fans).

Watched in Portugal with several European friends who thought there was only friendly banter. (Also watched in Scotland 4 years ago--not as much fun!) Broadcasters here made little mention of it besides the exceptions who were ejected. Stenson and Rory prompted some of it with their antics.
