Thanks 05. First hand knowledge. In ten years we won't have it.

I just watched a History Channel special (nice to see they remembered the "History" part of their name" I had DVR'd on the 75th anniversary. Actually, it was an edited repeat of their 70th anniversary - still worth the watch. They are advertising a New show at 10pm on Pearl Harbor.
Anyway, they said there are less than 300 survivors are still alive. God Bless them and all of those who fought in WWII.
My late wife's father's birthday is December 7 and yes he was stationed at Pear on December 7, 2941. She said he didn't talk about it. The only thing he would sat was probably meant to steer clear of talking about it. He would joke with the kids by saying that he thought it was a big birthday party for him.

I do remember, as a four year old, sitting with my uncle, who was listening to a pro football game, when the game was interrupted with the news about the attack, and wondering what the fuss was all about. I'd be very interested in OT's memories as a teenager. The world is so different, today, and at yesterday's BB game, JPR, when leaving, wished me a Merry Christmas, as he wouldn't be at the Ohio game. He was leaving today for a Hawaii vacation.

A belated Pearl Harbor day memory day.............
I seldom cried, but after I had my stroke about 5 years ago I developed PBA which is condition that causes uncontrolled tears...Try as hard as I can not stop that type emotion...A song, a memory, meeting an old friend will set it in motion...
I have refuse pills which will help, but instead find a quite corner to cover the embarrassment...
Yesterday while watching a documentary on ''The war in the Pacific'' I once again a couple of hours before the game had to find that quite corner...!!!

No need to be embarrassed, OT. When I watched coverage of the Pearl Harbor remembrance yesterday I saw tears in the eyes of those Pearl Harbor survivors.
Thanks for your service. And thanks to all of the G.I.s (including my late Dad) for winning WWII and keeping us free.

OT, you might have missed it, but I asked you a question. Do you remember the day, and where you were on the afternoon of December 7, 1941? I know you were a teenager, and what did you and your friends think?
