The Iona College softball team earned its first MAAC Regular Season Championship since 2011 and will host the 2017 MAAC Championship tournament on campus today through Saturday. Iona welcomes Siena, Marist, Manhattan, Monmouth and Fairfield as they battle for a bid into the NCAA Softball regionals. All games in the double-elimination MAAC Championship will be played on Donald E. Walsh Field on Rice Oval behind Rice Hall. Iona’s first game takes place Thursday, May 11, at 11:30 a.m. Should they win, the Gaels’ next contest is Friday at 11 a.m. A loss by the Gaels in their first contest will have the second game take place Thursday at 4:30 p.m. All of Iona’s games can also be seen in student-produced broadcasts on the WatchESPN platform. Admission is free for Iona students, faculty and staff with Iona College ID. For more information, see ICGaels.com and our MAAC Championship Information Center.

What a great opportunity for local HS players aspiring to play at the D1 level to witness these games first-hand.
Best of luck to all teams and especially the Lady Gaels who earned the right to play on their home turf.
Weather forecast for Saturday isn't very good. Let's hope Mother Nature cooperates.

Well, that was a bit of a disappointment.
