Remember this is a doubleheader, and the Women play at 5:30, with the Men starting about 7:30. This works for me, in a way since I can't get there until after seven. My concern is the possible "Jelly" effect. By that I mean, is it possible that too many people will attend? For the regular season, I would want that to be a problem, since I have season tickets, but the exhibition game is not included in the season tix package. Will IW's followers and the students all enter through the same (single) entrance? Of course, I know most of you will think, we can only hope it's a problem. As for the game itself, I guess we should expect a similar outcome to the SH-Misecordia (Sp?) game. But back when Jeff was coach, didn't we lose to Rhode Island College, coached by Bobby Walsh.
Interesting thought. Guess it's a good dress rehersal for many reasons. But if they sell out an exhibition game id be shocked (pleasantly). Cant remember if someone said this.. is the game free? Aka just walk in? Or buy a 'free' ticket?

Got a ticket on line for $10 to pick up at Will Call. Question is, at this point, what do I wear? Iona shirt, Packers shirt, Hawai’ian shirt, Halloween costume, Chelsea FC shirt, etc. Have no feel for exhibition protocol.

Let me know if you go with Hawaiian, I'll do it too and at least we'll be able to spot each other.

Will do. Leaning that way right now. Might go with my swordfish Hawaiian shirt.
Decided Hawaiian. Going with the layered approach though, t shirt underneath. Don’t know how the temp will be regulated. Thinking an entire section of older guys in Hawaiian shirts would be appropriate.
I am shocked there is not more "analysis" in this thread--what we're looking for, yada yada yada. So I'll offer some.
Iona can win this game by whatever margin it chooses. 20, 30, 40, 50, more. Whatever. Makes no difference to me. We know we'll score our share of points and since it's an exhibition we should see plenty of everyone on the roster, assuming everyone is healthy.
So, what I want to see is the defense. Playing a D3 team that is undersized (no one over 6-6) and pales in comparison athletically, there is zero excuse to allow them to shoot well. I want to see them held to under 35% from the field. That would satisfy me. Holding them under 30% would give me even more confidence. If we look up and win this game 105-65 and they've shot 42% overall and 36% from 3, that will be a really bad sign, IMO.
We know we're going to score a ton this year, and that those points are going to come from a lot of guys. But if we're going to be a "special" team, we're going to have to be one of the best defensive teams in the Cluess era. Seeing that from day 1 is important.

Really thought my clothing choice was pretty analytical, but I’ll agree with your take on the defense. For me this is about getting a feel for the new players so I have a frame of reference when watching games down the line. I’m curious about the Gist/Washington interplay - will Washington be more of a distributor, or will his role be a non-traditional PG role, versatile, and interchangeable with the other guards.

Generally agree with this analysis. Don't get too caught up in the percentages depending on who's out on the court for us. Would agree that if the score was 105-65 and they went 42 and 36 that would not be good. But say the score was 90-35 and they went 42 and 36. That would mean they are not getting shots off. Just as good. But again,if we are playing guys 8 through thirteen in the second half that will also affect numbers. Also, it's early. Usually takes a while for Cluess teams to get it together defensively.

Exactly my point. There are a lot of returning players--I don't expect us to start as slowly on D as we normally do.

Don't think shooting percentages will tell us anything about our defense. This is a team that we dominate in size, speed and athleticism. If we can't play defense against them we can't play defense against D1 teams. Even if we hold the percentages down, doesn't tell us anything about D1 defense.
This game is probably more about correct floor spacing, recognizing defenses and offenses and reacting properly.
The game will also tell us what kinks we have to iron out in our new home, be it the scoreboards, lighting or audio or crowd movement and control.
