We've used Chatzy as our in-game chat tool for a few years now. It doesn't cost anything and it seems to work pretty well. I've even used it on my cell, though I've had to play with some settings to make it work better.
One of its limitations is the number of people in the room at a time. Last year, it felt like at times people couldn't get in because we were already at the limit re number of users, which I think was 10. Do you guys agree? Were you often shut out of chats, particularly when Iona was on the road and more of us were trying to get on?
If so, for a reasonable fee I can update our "room level" so that we can have more users. I think it would be upped to 30, which I imagine would be plenty, though there's also an option for unlimited users.
On Saturday, I will be up in Maine watching the boy and his college football team, so I'll likely only get to follow via live stats. As it's a road game, I suspect many of you will go into the chat room. Can you guys let me know afterward in the game thread if the room was overcrowded and people were shut out of joining? If so, I'll update us in time for the games in Florida, as I am assuming overcrowding is not a problem when Iona is at home (but let me know if I'm wrong about that!).
Thanks in advance, everyone!

Never had a problem getting in Guy.
We seem to have a core of about 8 of us who use the chat room during games (Greg, 86, Hat, QS, Super, Tau, you and I).Sorry if I missed anyone.
For whatever reason, I sense a number of posters choose to post on the main board under the game thread during games. (Sharkey, CTBill, St. Louis, 1970, 1983 to name a few)
Not so much recently, but a few years back we would occasionally have some trolls encroach the chat room. Pretty easy to weed them out.
Occasionally had that problem. Very rarely though. Not to the point that it annoyed me. You can always go with status quo and monitor it. If it becomes a big problem maybe change it? Just my two cents.

Yeah, I figure it's only a problem if the same folks are finding themselves shut out. We'll see. It's a monthly purchase, so if we feel it's an issue over the handful of times in Nov and Dec, I can get it for Jan and Feb when there are a lot more games.

Used to be a regular in the Chat room. As more games moved to an internet feed and people posted the score, the Chat room and the feed were out of synch by as much as a minute. For example, someone posted a monster during a time-out. What!! There was no way I could truly appreciate and enjoy the joebird moment - when it arrived. So, much as I enjoyed the room; I opted to go with the TV feed.
Good points, SLG! Forgot about that. Not much I can do about that though. But yeah, it's strange seeing someone post "Crawford wet" in the chat and you're like "did he just come out of the shower? Ohhh he made a 3..."

Yea. I watch game and check in with chat from time to time. Avoids that problem a bit.
Yup, all true. Honestly it never bothered me much. It's always cool when you know something good's about to happen, but yeah, you cringe waiting for that bad thing to happen when you know it's on the way.
I go through the same thing with my fantasy football team and watching Sunday Ticket. My phone will update with a score before it happens on the TV, because as we know TV feeds are never "live" anyway but the computer feeds are pretty much real-time. So I'll read that Amari Cooper just caught a TD pass, then see it a good 45 seconds later on TV.
As I said, can't do much about it. All we can do is make a concerted effort to not use the chat to report what's going on, but to share opinions or commentary. That said--occasionally someone drops into the board and says "score?" so we should still oblige. But maybe we can dial back on the "Gist wet" and "shitty second foul on Agee" type comments. Hard to do, but we can try.
