Speaking of Cluess, and given that we will likely not receive any official word on his status, it will be interesting to me to see if he makes this trip to Orlando. We would have had 9 days between games--is it possible he's been back at practice and is planning to make the trip? The pessimist in me says we would have heard if he were back, but who knows. And it's still only Monday. I assume the team travels Thursday. So there's still time. Hopefully Tim is doing better and will be back!

Also, our next opponent, Kennesaw St, hosts Reinhardt tonight. Yes, that game is on ESPN+. Bringing this up because I don't even know if I get Big 10 TV.

Hi guys, glad to be back. Chance to take a look at Stetson tonight as they play Ohio State at 830pm on the Big Ten Network. MAAC also on TV tonight ad Monmouth is on the ACC network at 7pm at PITT. Obviously not the start we expected, but the health of coach Cluess is the number one priority, as that's more important than wins and losses. Coach Arnold has been forced into a very difficult situation, hopefully with a week of practice the team can pull off a couple wins in Florida and turn the season around. Just a couple takes off the first 2 games. I think Iona has a player in Van Eyck. Hope to see Ristanovic and Perez get more PT this weekend. Iona's biggest potential strength is depth and looking at the stats each game the rotation was tight. AJ Mcneal getting healthy will go a long way as well for a longer rotation. I have watched every MAAC team play this season and despite the slow start, I still believe Iona is the team to beat. On a personal note, I have been dealing with health problems the last month with still a ways to go as far as recovery. While I have not posted I have constantly read the board and can't say enough how this board helped get me thru some difficult days and a extended hospital stay and will continue to help thru recovery. Can't express how thankful I am to you guys and for this board. Thanks to all of you!! Looking forward to a winning streak but more importantly coach Cluess getting healthy. Speedy recovery!

Ohio St with a 26-3 lead at the 8. And Kennesaw wins 69-56 against an NAIA team.
If we don't drill both these teams...ooofa.

Guy, on Fios, the BTN is on channel 585. And our next opponent is Stetson, I believe, with Kennesaw on Saturday.

Some Thoughts - Stetson starts two bigs and 3 guards with another guard who comes off the bench. Not a great shooting team, but can hit shots when open. Big man down low is one of their better players. Not very athletic and very sloppy with the ball. Don't have a true point guard from the highlights I've watched online for their games. They play primarily man defense and mix up with a zone defense.
Agee matching up with their big man will be an advantage for us as he's not very mobile. Agee should be able to extend the big man. I hope to god he lets the 3 go in this upcoming game.
Washington and Gist should be able to get tons of open shots. I see IW having a better effect in this game as he will be able to get out in the open floor and run which will lead to him finishing more around the hoop. Gist should be able to get to the hoop this game easier as their guards had a lot of trouble defending in the first couple of games.
Crawford - Probably will be matched up against their other big. Matchup wise, the other big is heavy on his feet and is laterally challenged.
Thiam/Van Eyck - Should stretch the floor and help down low with their big. If I was a betting man, I think they both should have breakout games shooting and points wise. I watched Stetson and defensively very late on rotations and not good with help defense. In the Ohio State game, they allowed a ton of layups on backdoors and missed assignments.
Conclusion - We should win and I'm putting our point tally in the 80's. We should be able to hold them to under 60, but if we allow 3's wide open, they have demonstrated an ability to knock them down which should keep them in the game.
My prediction - Iona 86 Stetson 67

In one or both of the games, I'm expecting Ben Perez to break out. Double digit wins in both. JMO.

Both games are on ESPN3 according to the ICgaels website. Scary thought, but these two games may be our best/only chance at wins for the non-conference. UConn and Colorado await us and we are 0 for this century, against Princeton.
