Another rumor is Ed Cooley as a possibility to replace Welsh. Doubt that will happen now as Cooley is signing a contract extension today--and I think he was the highest paid coach in the MAAC to begin with, after Fran's departure.

I would think Cooley's next step would be to a higher level than Hofstra.

Another rumor is Ed Cooley as a possibility to replace Welsh. That would be a very good choice, but a blow to the MAAC.

Three points: 1. Norm Roberts seems like a natural for the Hofstra job. 2. With Mike Rice now the RU HC, Fred Q., another Fordham guy, might be a natural to join him. 3. A darkhorse for the Iona job, might be Tim O'Toole (should Grasso leave). He interviewed for the Columbia job. Would Big Jeff run down Hempstead Turnpike?

An extension to 2016? Does that mean he can only leave FF in even number years?

We all know extensions don't mean much, at least for the college. I read that Mike Rice recently agreed to an extension till 2016, I believe.

It makes you wonder about the value of contracts and who they protect.

That would be great for him.
I would think he would do a credible job.
It will be rough for a new coach given some players are leaving Hofstra and it is late in the recruiting period.

Perhaps a blessing in disguise for DeMeo? Makes me think about the tragic circumstances that placed former Loyola HC Dino Gaudio into the Wake HC spot.
