Didn't know where to post this, so I started a new thread. A few years back, when JG was still here and I was able to watch summer workouts, one thing impressed me. Every player had to take 100 3pt shots and team managers recorded their shooting results. And this was done every day (that I was there), before team workouts. This told me that TC considered 3pt very important. Just wondering if we still do it.
No doubt repetition helps. Quick and crisp passing is just as important to find the open man. Our passing this year has been sloppy with too much hesitation. Not pretty.
While one would have thought our 3 point shooting would be good this year with returning 5 players who averaged around 35% last year. However the returning players have not shot as well. . .possible due to the ball not moving around to the open players as well it did last year. . .resulting in a lot of 3s being forced. Also new players who are taking a fair amount of 3s Ross at 19% and IW at 25% not only are pulling down the 3 point percentage. . .and also I'm sure have contributing to possible chemistry problems.
Besides Tim returning, I would like to see IW do more penetrating and playmaking with less of his own 3s, more playing time for Perez who moves the ball around and hopefully can get more open shots himself and Ross driving to the basket more than throwing up 3s.
After 7 games when we are only averaging 27% from 3s while allowing our opposition to shoot at a 41% rate. . .so with 3 point shooting we are both offensively and defensively challenged and need a lot of improvement.
Reference IW. Going back to the first game, he did a lot of driving and dishing. But as the season has gone on, he's doing less of it. IMO, improved PG play is the key, and would help Ben Perez (assuming he's on the court). I can almost guarantee that if three or four plays go by and Agee hasn't gotten a shot, that the next time he gets his hands on the ball, it's going up.

Agee has been our best player!! Your statement is false anyway you want to explain it. Agee has taken the 4th amount of shots. He IS shooting the BEST on the team at 55%, the next player is Thiam at 44%, or someone who actually plays, Crawford is 43% Gist has the most assists at 24, Agee is at 20, so he has 4 less than our pg, is that bad!!!! The problem is our pg play, team assists to t/o ratio, 89/111 unaccepatable!!!!

Plenty of blame to go around. Agee has played well in spots (Lasalle, Stetson, Kennesaw, 1st half of uconn). He has also been dreadful at times,( Princeton, 2nd half of UConn). Bottom line is we bombed against the high majors (Colorado, UCONN). Lost to the 3 mid-majors(Lasalle OT,- Ohio -at home, Princeton-OT) and beat the 2 low majors (Stetson & Kennesaw). That's who we are right now. I believe there is room to improve, unfortunately there is a scenario where the wheels fall off also.

I agree, just didn't understand why pick g on agee!!!

I am not trying to, overall he has performed better than the rest. Crawford has been good in spots, but disappears in some games and in some of the overtimes. There was some big expectations about Van Eck, Risto, Jelly, Isiah etc.. Haven't seen any of it fulfilled, yet.

So what is your answer to fixing the PG play?
WHAT DOES THAT HAVE TO DO WITH AGEE? I WOULD USE IW AS PG AND GIST OFF THE BALL? WHAT WOULD U DO COACH 86?

I think Agee has been our best player BUT it should be pointed out with his 20 assists he has 30 turnovers, that’s a lot, also stats say he is 4th in attempts but he gets fouled a lot while shooting and goes to the line, obviously this doesn’t count in his FG%. Bottom line for me,NO ONE is playing up to what was expected of them, can they change this, sure, but it has to start tomorrow,ST PETERS was a missed foul shot away from sending us home early last year, this game is by no means an easy one, they play really hard and have 2 guys shooting 50% from, 3.

How did you survive this long, continually being a douchebag? I asked you a question regarding a statement you made. You do remember writing "The problem is our pg play..." This thread is called "Three Point Shooting" so why do you think it is limited discussions regarding Agee? You felt your statement was important to mention while discussing Agee, I thought you might wish to elaborate on your position.
As for your question, after consulting Bobby Knight, Pat Riley and Phil Jackson, I would also have IW as our point guard. As for Gist, I would sit his ass down and explain I wanted more ball movement, better spacing and a team first attitude. If he could not deliver on those demands his ass would be glued to the bench until he made those adjustments.
