Another former Gael great has died. Larry Blaney '58, a 6'6 PF holds the school's (I believe) single game rebounding record with 33 boards in a game at the WCC. Larry, one of many Blaneys who attended Iona, is the uncle of Jeanie Blaney, the wife of former Iona coach Pat Kennedy. May he RIP.

How sad! I worked in the library with Larry's brother, Joe. I used to sympathize with Larry about the lack of PT he got from McDermott. Larry ultimately proved that he was one of Iona's all time rebounders. If anyone knows what Larry was doing in Mahopac, I'd be interested to know. RIP

qs, I have a friend (who I can't reach) who was in the Coast Guard with Larry and they remained friends over the years. Told me that Larry worked in Real Estate, and that was confirmed by the obit in today's Journal News.
