Thanks for the thorough response ukscribe. You seem to know Pitino, Wildcat and Cardinal background very well... Sorry for the long response. Without sports on TV, I have way too much time on my hands. I’ll try to keep it Twitter-style (140 characters) in the future 😀

I enjoy a coach's take as we embark on our new era. WE have a coach or two here already and a whole lot of wannabes (including me). I look forward to reading you guys discuss the RP era.

SLG — surprised there was no praise coming from you for our athletic director, who clearly deserves some credit for bringing in the biggest whale in the history of Iona athletics, and arguably someone who has the potential to be as transformational for the institution as anyone if everything falls into place. Sorry couldn’t resist. :-)

You are already more of a value add than many Iona trolls on this board. :-) Seriously though keep the insights coming. Love your perspectives! BTW, get ready for Pitino vs Calipari at Rupp, 2021-22 season. Would be epic!

Thanks - much appreciated! If Iona does get the chance to play at Kentucky, I'd love to meet some of the people on the board - maybe I can help you guys find a spot around Rupp Arena for a Meet-Up before or after the game. I can also help with where to stay, where to eat, attractions, etc. If you get UK early (which you would in an early November/December game), anything is possible as Cal starts over each year with a new bunch. They are usually pretty bad early on (especially offensively) before figuring things out for conference play in January. You guys will love Rupp Arena - it's now in the middle of a major renovation ($275 million) that will be completed for the 2021-22 season.

That would be good, but I would go with Gist over Chavez due to experience level. So here’s a different take. I predict that RP lands Louisville transfer Darius Perry and this team will run people out of the gym - pressing, trapping, running down hill and shooting the 3. A “Positionless” lineup that can go 10 deep. I’m not buying into going “big” with a tall lineup - doesn’t really matter with great athletes that can rebound. You can bet that each practice will be a war for playing time. Perry Washington Chavez Jeanlouis Shema/Van Eyck Just my take...I think Chavez is the real deal and will get a ton of minutes. Joseph and Carfoord will struggle early and will have to earn minutes with better defense. Gist and Myers could get left behind. No reason to get sentimental about players returning - RP runs practice like the Hunger Games - you either fight for every minute or die on the bench. The level of intensity just went through the roof so you better have some mental toughness! I'd start fresh and play the new guys except for senior day.....

I’d start and play the 5 best players regardless of seniority. I think coach would do likewise 🏀

:-) Shocked that it took you this long. Sometimes people are in the right place at the right time. Hope this is not a premature ejack.. on your part. Haven't read anything about RP being on Campus yet, or any of these recruits. To paraphrase, remember the '19-'20 season! By the way, your reference is ambiguous so I will clarify it for you. Rick Pitino is "arguably someone" who not only has the potential, but will probably transform the institution. I hope you are right.
