nc, don't remember if it was the only dunk, but I saw it on the video at the reception. Came in the first half.

McMillan was never much of a student and the reason why he left Iona. I think he wound up being a security guard somewhere. The other recruit that year, Jeff Williams (Amityville HS) was really talented but left after the first semester of the following season. I do not know what happened to him.

He was an apartment building handyman and taxi driver for a couple years. He also played in some basketball tournaments that were not sanctioned by the NCAA. Eventually that lead to some problems for CW Post, forfeited games. That's from the NYT; I don't remember that.

I discovered this myself a week ago. One of the all time worse analysis by a commentator was made by the Louisville guy at the tip-off: “Ruland looks fat and out of shape”, as he predicted Louisville would be too much for him.

That analyst was pretty bad throughout the game. In a funny way.

Bill, great memento. Iona should replicate and sell them as a fundraiser.

i dont know if anybody posted this, not great quality. Sounds like it is a Louisville TV feed. www.youtube.com/watch?v=_c6I93QYF8oCrowd very pro Iona[/quote Hat, thank you for posting the video. I watched the whole video despite the static. Ruland ”fat and outta of shape””.. a jerk of an announcer . I was at the game( fourth row behind the Iona bench) and forgot what a great game Hamilton played. Mike Palma too! I still cannot wonder if Ruland did not break his hand before the NCAA Georgetown game what might have been.. ..I honestly think Louisville was not that good.

I watched this video the other night. It was great to relive this. Seeing it again (not from the cheap seats this time) makes me appreciate just how talented that Iona team was. Not just Ruland, but Vickers and Hamilton especially. It was a great experience to see it live and to watch it again was just fun.
I hope we have some high stakes games in our future at MSG and the Barc.

Anyone know if there are any videos from the early 80s/Burtt era? Have never been able to find one of those games anywhere.

Wow great find!!! Anyone know if there are any videos from the early 80s/Burtt era? Have never been able to find one of those games anywhere. I have a couple of old VHS tapes. One is the second half of the 1983 NIT against St Bonaventure and a recap of the 1982-83 season. The other is the 1984 Senior Day presentation and game against Fairfield. I have no idea how to convert the tapes to digital let alone upload on YouTube. Not sure it would be worth the effort, but the quality is a lot better then the Louisville game.
