I feel this has been lost in all the talk of the coaching search, but I would like to take a moment to thank coach Arnold for accepting the challenge of taking over our team on a moments's notice with little or no preparation. I know some disagree with me, but I thought he did a terrific job under difficult circumstances. Yes, there were predictable bumps in the road, but our team was competitive in every game the last month of the season despite mounting injuries. In the Saint Peter's game we were in the exact same position we were in a year ago, except this time St. Peter's hit the shot. I appreciate everything you did for our team. From what we are reading it looks like your time with the program may be coming to an end. I wish you well in whatever lies ahead for you. I am sure you will be a success. From the bottom of my heart, I thank you!

Yes, put in a very tough position with no experience at this level, grateful he tried his best.

Mentioned this in another thread, this is the "stinks" part when hiring a new HC.
A few weeks ago I ran into Coach Arnold and his 2 sons at a store. He relocated his family from Texas and will most likely be looking for a job shortly and really not because of the job he did but because of the unusual circumstances of the health of Cluess. Wishing him and his family all the best.
Let's also not forget coach Mailhot and Coach Johns as well as the rest of the staff. Hope they all land on their feet and have future success.

Hate to lose any of our assistants. They are part of our Gael family. And we all owe them our deepest gratitude for working under very trying circumstances. Unfortunately, when a new coach takes over he must be given latitude. Hopefully, some of the staff might fit the new coaches needs and be retained.

Agree, thank you Tra. You didn't ask for any of this and did what you could. Here's hoping you hit the ground running, wherever you are next season.

Coach Arnold, no one knows the challenges you faced this past season. Success has to be measured in effort and satisfaction that you gave everything you had. We all are defined not by how we handle success, but instead of how we handle adversity. You handled it with grace, no complaints and no excuses. Your fellow coaches and the players know your efforts. Best wishes on your next adventure and challenge.

It was a difficult situation for Coach Arnold, finding out just shortly before the season started that he would assume head coach responsibility. He had not been at Iona long and may not have been comfortable with the Cluess style of play. Considering the circumstances, he did OK. He'll wind up in a good spot, I think, just not likely on Pitino's staff.
