How about Iona Nation? If we do well in some future NCAA we could "own" the nation.

The last 20 minutes or so is a must-listen for Iona fans. Everything from this year's schedule to future scheduling plans, recruiting plans, facilities, etc.

Notes from that last 20 minutes: - staff integrity critical, he's going to closely watch his staff - not changing leagues, so gotta load up OOC - playing Ok St in MSG (though this is not 100% done deal yet), trying for 2nd game at MSG, on road for some teams - wants 3 games a year at MSG and to go on road for big opponents, try to get in major MTEs like battle of Atlantis, Maui tourney, these more important than building anything on campus - basically told MSG that if anyone ever backs out of a game there, plug Iona in - wont rely on as many transfer as Tim - wants to get 4-and 5-star kids to come here - He made 15-18 phone calls to get the 6 commitments - Jimmy V event needs another team, school wants to retire V's jersey, should do it there - wants Iona to build a practice facility (though I don't see that happening), we are building a weight room - has talked to all players over phone - focus will be on individual player development

The 4 and 5 star kids will make some people happy 😉. If we get the kids rated that high, no need for the transfers...

Just want to note the Ok St game a MSG isn't etched in stone yet--but it is in the works and there is definitely mutual interest between Iona and MSG.

Playing regularly at msg will annoy the crap out of St. Chicken fans! It will be interesting to see how we can draw there. Pitino is an interesting enough story to get non Iona basketball fans to attend. I also think Iona has a large following of bandwagon fans who have been lying dormant for years just hoping/waiting for something like this. I know a bunch of guys like this personally, both Iona graduates and just local basketball fans familiar with iona’s history.

When we played at the Garden vs St John's a couple years back, at the pregame reception I barely knew anyone there. Lots of people came out of the woodwork, and Iona actually had a good turnout that day. I expect even more to come out of the woodwork for Pitino, though I also know some Iona fans were against the hire and will be stubborn and stay away rather than support the college.

St. John's fans are already running worried on Twitter about recruiting becoming harder for them. Not only are they worried about Pitino's pull, but are concerned because of the rise of the Hall, Rutgers and Hofstra. Love it!

I’ve listened to several of Pitino ‘s interviews and it seems he has a very close relationship with President Carey. Pitino said the big buyout of his contract was imposed by the board of directors. Looks like President Carey is deeply involved more so than any previous President of the college. It’s comforting to know that support for the program goes all the way to the top. The current administration sees the success of the basketball team as a driving force to grow the college.
