Quick note as we proceed. Any personal attacks of our new coach will be removed and a warning noted. Second infraction gets you removed. You don't have to like the hire. You do have to respect it here. Guy,I am 100% behind this,as much as I had hoped Jared would come back home, this hire is obviously a home run,Iona will be a major force in the country immediately, and it will be a lot of fun.TC still being at Iona and as Pitino said “leaned on” is also important to many of us,Rick wouldn’t be here if not for the accomplishments of TC the last decade.I see some things going forward that will be amazing and make myself and other alumni proud, this is beneficial to Iona in many other ways than basketball,so the impact will be felt throughout the college.i am looking forward to the staff he assembles and the players he brings in,this will be done quickly and with no other sports right now will be major headlines moving forward,I have heard of 2 5th year players already that are feasible,if it happens we become HEAVY favorites to waltz through the MAAC,Siena will be out of their minds and we will be considering them a pushover, I LOVE THAT!!!!

Ctbill why bring up his past seriously great day in Iona history bill did the correct thing. You can't just close your eyes and pretend nothing happened. You take the good with the bad and imo, there is a lot more good with Rick's hiring.

I completely forgot that Iona's president's last job was in Kentucky. So, along with Robert LaPenta, two Iona people have close ties to RP. Of course. I do forget a lot of things.

A. Pitino will make us a major force . B. Put us on the map again & we’ll get majors to come play us @ Hynes now. Everyone be ecstatic. C. Humongous things to come. We will battle on the recruiting trail for sure Rick has the tools to get them to play for him. Expect Huge things in New Rochelle, New York!!! No not the coronavirus lol

Two things stuck out for me in the fairly comprehensive ESPN interview: -- Pitino is not very interested in JUCO players but is cool with grad transfers. -- He is looking for six recruits. By my count there are only three available scholarships. Are some players not having their scholarships renewed? Sounds that way. Side note: Read an opinion piece by well-respected Pat Forde of Sports Illustrated and he rips Iona two, maybe three, new ones. I'm an Iona fan for life but I will say I'm hoping and praying this move works out. Forde wrote a book with Pitino and might be a little too close to the investigations that he reported on to be objective. Google "Pat Forde bias" and I think you will get a better picture of the man rather than the bio he placed on his SI page.

Ctbill why bring up his past seriously great day in Iona history While I think the Coach Pitino hire could create huge benefits, this hire does not come without some past warts. I believe in having some faith and giving people second chances but Bill has the right to voice any concerns as he is an Iona grad and, like the rest of us, he values the College and does not want to see its reputation sullied or the value of an Iona degree diminished in any way.
