Don't know if he would be considered underrated, but Aaron Rountree was a valuable piece, one season, grad transfer.

Without any sports to watch, I was on you tube and found some old (under Cluess) Iona MAAC championship games. Geez Iona had some really talented teams. I then saw the tweet below and the 1st name that came to mind was Isaiah Williams. He really did it all and if I remember he was snubbed from any All-Maac teams. Another name was Ibn Muhhamad, he was really solid on the team that upset Monmouth for the NCAA bid. Any others come to mind? Pre Cluess? Most underrated Great discussion to have, particularly during a slow time like now where there are no sports to watch. Probably worth another thread in itself but I would go with the following off the top of my head: Cluess Era - Tre Bowman - Taaj Ridley - Randy Dezouvre Non-Cluess Era - Donnell Mitchell - Greg Barr - Jason Young May not be the "most" underrated, but Phil Grant is a 1000+ point scorer who went to 3 NCAA tournaments. I could go back further, but you youngsters would probably not know the player(s) I'd be mentioning.

Jermel Jenkins this past decade, Scott Machado’s presence prevented him from being a star. Basically our only player who showed up in the second half of the BYU game.

Just saw the name Greg Barr listed which brought back memories. Greg who played for Camden high school in South jersey once scored 94 points for them in a game, which I believe was a scoring record at that time.
We couldn't wait to see him play at Iona but his first year was pretty disappointing as I recall. It became apparent that Greg scored most of his points in H.S. by posting up smaller guards but was not a great shooter. However he worked hard at Iona and improved his shooting tremendously and became a very good player.

Super now that you mentioned that I recall he had those issues. Greg was a good kid and a hard worker and continuously worked to improve his game. He was one of those players that got better each year and was fun to watch.

I think Donnell Mitchell was one of the most unheralded Iona players in the MAAC era. He was a critical piece to the 98 team and did a little bit of everything. I don’t think we would’ve had the run we had that year without him.

Clearly not an all MAAC Team player type but loads of fun to watch in person: Troy Truesdale. Averaged only 5.5 PPG shooting at a 56% clip but his defense and hustle was legendary. I remember him yelling (screaming) on defense and having opponents literally get scared and throw the ball away or smash a brick off the backboard. Truly a fun/entertaining play to watch!

Troy could really jump well too.

Memorable back page Daily News photo of Olden Polynice consoling Troy after the horrible end to the UVA NCAA game at the Meadowlands. Both were All Hallows grads.

I loved watching Tony Hargraves play. Not a natural shooter but one of the hardest self driven players that refused to lose. The kid was as winner!!!

Tony was great! I was there for his unfortunate last shot (free throw) in Hartford during the NCAA Tournament. I believe Ruland was in attendance that night. Bob Coleman was a beast in that game against Loyola's (IL) big man Andre Moore who ended up fouling out. Moore played almost even with Patrick Ewing in their Sweet 16 loss to the Hoyas.
