I know most of you are not Mike Francessa fans, but his interview with Rick Pitino was outstanding. Coach Pitino was open, honest and insightful about his past and the future. Well worth going to the radio.com app and listening to. Very excited for Iona basketball going forward. NO question Coach Cluess put Iona in the position to bring a Pitino in. Thank you Coach Cluess, God Bless!

Francessa praised Iona many times during the interview and in fact said to Pitino they were a higher mid major

In all these interviews, the one question that needs to be answered and I didn't hear is... how will he manage being Gaels HC and his Greek national team obligation at this summers Olympics?

What problem will he have? That is the question that cjb is seeking to answer. Do you have a reasonable and/or reasoned response?

I'll take a stab. His staff will be doing most of the recruiting anyway, it's not like Pitino's needed to bounce around to visit every recruit. I remember when Coach K was heading up the US Olympic team or something and the assistants did all the recruiting. "Sorry, our coach couldn't be here because he's coaching in the Olympics" isn't a negative, especially when the guy's name is Pitino.
That said, I am really looking forward to seeing who ends up on the staff.

That made me chuckle.

What problem will he have? That is the question that cjb is seeking to answer. Do you have a reasonable and/or reasoned response? i don't understand why he so worried and what he is worried about? Recruiting? Recruiting is being done just by players and coaches calling him, but i also believe he will have capable coaches that can recruit. Is he worried about the schedule? other coaches have already said they would love to play us, ESPN has already said they want us in one of the tournaments they televise. So thanks for answering for him but still not sure what to worry about, i think Pitino has gone through getting ready for a season once or twice before.

The only worries anyone should have re Pitino are with regard to his past, not his present or future. The staff, the roster, our schedule, our coverage--all of these are going to be greatly enhanced.
