Guy, I enjoyed the show. And while she didn't say that they were the best of the newbies, I got the impression that two transfers (Vezaidenos, Rogers) are the two she's most excited by. Learned that we have three OOC games, but we're not sure that they will be played. Another thing that caught my attention was her statement that she can't wait for the fans to see the Lady Gaels in action. So, I'm wondering if she'll consider releasing some video slips of our practice sessions? Again, nice show.

We talked about getting some video clips of the team out there off the air. She said she would work with the athletic office to do this.

IC59, the Iona website now has dates for the women's OOC games:
Sun Nov 29 at Army 3 pm Fri Dec 4 vs Bryant at Hynes Tues Dec 22 vs Sacred Heart at Hynes
The site doesn't have times for the two home games, but both will be on ESPN+ or ESPN3.
I found a news story on the Army women's team (coached by Dave Magarity still, by the way) and they said the game time was 3 pm and that it would be on ESPN+.

Guy, just listened to your latest podcast, and I really enjoed it, as I needed a BB fix, with the season starting tomorrow. A couple of random thoughts: 1. I want to see the effect of no fans in the stands. And, does this mean that the home court advantage goes away? 2. I'm not sure how good our backcourt (Gist/Ross) will be. I've seen Asante play for two years, and he's been VG----------as an OG. Not so good as a PG, though in limited minutes at that position. Ross is a great long range shooter, but I have no idea if he can handle the ball. Of course having a coach like RP has to help. But, Talik Chavez, imo, has to get major minutes. 3. I'll be very surprised if Robert Brown doesn't start, and OS is eased into the center position, if he shows that he's strong enough to handle D1 BB. it looks like he has the skills. 4. Since I like their coaches, I think that FF and Niagara will do better than Guy thinks they will do. 5. I think that IF and it's a BIG IF, Iona is good, this year, then the MAAC will be much better since we already have two solid teams (Siena/SPU). And I don't know who it will be, but I expect another MAAC team to pull a SPU, as well.

Guy, A quick note of thanks for your dedication to the Iona Gaels and the fine work you are doing on the site and the Podcasts. Although I rarely get a chance to contribute to the discussions, I do enjoy the updates and discussions, especially regarding tonight's contest, which is a bit special to me. Many years ago, I played in the JV game against Seton Hall, prior to the varsity game at the Mount in 73-7, then sitting as my roommate played a great all round game, however missing a last second shot that could have won the game for us. Afterwards the then SH coach, now announcer, Bill Rafferty came over and said hello congratulating and consoling us on a game well played. No TV cameras, no videos no hype, just a couple of hundreds people enjoying a local basketball game. A classy act long remembered and one I have mentioned to Coach Rafferty a few years ago. Tonight's game will feature a classy former Iona coach, leading Seton Hall vs a Hall of Fame legend leading the Iona Gaels. Let's hope for a competitive contest and the start of a new era of post Timmy Cluess, Iona basketball. Guy, keep up the good work and Go Gaels!

Actually remember that varsity game--close loss--as part of Kevin Bass's sensational freshman year!
The latest ep of the IonaHoops.com podcast reviews Iona's OOC schedule/results--including Morgan St--and previews the upcoming MAAC games at Fairfield.
The latest episode with Kyle Franco was very informative. Must say that the sessions have become increasingly more professional each week. Keep up the good work Guy.
