Based upon the latest podcast, I'm expecting Tyson Jolly to lead the team in scoring (with DVE a dark horse candidate) in my "Way too early" prediction. But after listening to Sam Blum, I do come away with a concern. Sam talks about TJ's strength and rebounding abilities. In the major conferences, this would be a big plus. However, playing in, "the land of the ticky tack fouls" this could be a problem. It shouldn't impact our OOC games, but once we get into MAAC play it might. And, I'm not directly complaining about the MAAC refs, but rather how the games are called. And it's not just the MAAC, but I feel that games are officiated differently, in the major conferences, with a lot more physical play allowed. In the MAAC we do have the depth to offset guys being hit with two early fouls.

I do not want to know.

DVE, averaged 7.1 PPG, playing 25 minutes, fifth most minutes on the team. He shot 43% from the field and 74% from the line. His weakness was his 3pt percentage of 29%. However, he improved upon his deep shooting as the season went on, as for much of the year, he was around 20%. And this is why I expect his totals to improve this year: 1. Pitino's coaching. RP recognized DVE's potential and that is why he wanted him back. 2. He'll be playing with a better PG, which should benefit his scoring totals. 3. This offseason should make him stronger, which should help his rebounding and scoring around the basket. 4. Another year older and more experienced, who was better in 2020-21 than in his first year at Iona. But, as I posted, he's still a dark horse.

Hey, all that is fair. I guess my counter-take is that he's still going to be at best only the 4th option.

I guess I should have added that I'm a big DVE fan, who hasn't seen two of your top three options play. At least not for RP or Iona. P.S. Just want to add that over the weekend, I saw the news that Greece has announced that it is opening its borders to tourists. Hopefully, that might help the proposed Iona trip.

Is that greek trip with Iona or for Olympic duties? Or both?

Very entertaining that you bring in these beat writers to give their views on our transfers. The off season coverage is the best we’ve had in years! Kudos to you Guy for bridging this gap🏀

Guy, I came away from the podcast with two takeaways from Shannon Russell about QS. 1. He comes off as a great teammate with a great attitude. 2. She thinks that he is very versatile, and played the 2,3 and 4 positions at Louisville. This surprised me, as I would have thought that he might have played at the five, but not at the two.
P.S. She made it very clear that she's not a big fan of RP, but is a fan of Chris Mack.

One more thing that I learned from the latest podcast. I knew that RP was in Greece working with the Greek Olympic team. But Guy said that Greece has to qualify for the Olympics and that 'tourney' would take place in CANADA. I had read that the Toronto baseball and BB teams were NOT playing in Toronto and am wondering if that's still the case. Bottom line, is the Olympic qualifying event still on?
