Hi all--thank you all for the great feedback on the podcast. It's been fun to do so far!
I am starting to plan on the switch from offseason mode to season preview mode, and I'd like the guests to reflect that. I am planning on some Iona-focused people on, but also some MAAC experts. So, please add your votes to the poll on who I should have on as a guest! Some details on the potential guests in the poll follow. They're all regulars on Twitter, which I know isn't everyone's cup of tea but that's how these guys build their followings/reputations.
You guys know Jaden Daly, so I won't go into much there. Jaden's started previewing other MAAC programs on DalyDose--his previews are always solid.
Kevin Sweeney would be a solid guest as well. Be warned that he's a Siena fan, but he's also trying to establish himself as a national basketball mind, so he definitely would NOT come out and just talk about how wonderful Siena is. That said, given that Siena is the favorite, he would be the best source of info on them as well.
Bill Paxton from the CT Post did 6 MAAC team previews for Blue Ribbon, so you know he's going to have a good, balanced report on all teams. He did NOT do Iona's (Ryan Peters did Iona and SPU, and another writer did the other 3 teams).
Mid-Major Madness is a great site that does thorough work on all mid-major confs. Whichever of their writers who does the MAAC preview would be solid.
Three-Man Weave is another site done by a bunch of young guys who do excellent, detailed work. Their previews are among the best out there.
Like I said, I will be working on some Iona-specific folks as well, and once we get closer to games, folks who can educate us on the opponents we'll be facing. I guess my point is I can't get ALL these guys to come on for MAAC previews because there's just not enough time, so I wanted to see who you all "respected" the most I guess based on your own experiences.
So, get your votes in! Poll will be available for a couple days. I left current results visible for you guys, but don't let that influence you! You can pick up to TWO guests, you are not limited to just one.
Lastly, if you have someone else in mind you'd like to see for a MAAC preview, comment in this thread!
Thanks for your input!
