Today, Iona turns 81, so I say Happy Birthday. My question is why does the college look better with age, when I don't? All I know is that it has come a long, long, long, long way!!

Thank you for this, 59.
I know I mentioned this on the board before, but I was first introduced to Iona College as an 8th grader at Our Lady of Good Counsel School on Staten Island in 1965. My Dad was a partner in a law firm in Manhattan in which the senior partner was a gentleman by the name of Desmond T. Barry. He was on the BOT of Iona and invited my folks to a 25th anniversary celebration for the College. When my folks came home, they raved about Iona.
I ended up going to Msgr. Farrell HS on Staten Island, a Christian Brothers school and thought I may have a vocation to be an ICB. After doing the paperwork and interviewing in my junior and senior years, I opted to go to another college. After my first year I still had that nagging in the back of my mind about becoming a brother. I transferred to Iona for my sophomore year when I was a postulant. I left the brothers at the end of the academic year, but finished my junior and senior year at Iona.
I haven't been on campus since 2005 and doubt I would recognize it now.
I loved the school and admired the Christian Brothers and do to this day.
Go Gaels!!!

Z-73, when the Murphy Green is completed next Spring, a lot more of us won't recognize it.

I’m not sure, Cjb. I had a lot of blurry nights at the Beechmont, George’s, Churchkey, etc. Some of my 9:00am classes with Bro. Dunkak were a little blurry, also!
Go Gaels!!!
