Fairfield arena looks great!! I wouldn’t want it here every year, but I think it would be a great place to have the maac tourney every 4 years.

Watched the FF game in order to see their new facility. It looked great. But, while listed as a sellout, you could see MANY empty seats. I guess it's like our place, where season ticket holders live far away, buy tickets to support the program, but don't come to many games. They call the facility the 'Leo'. Official name is the Leo Mahoney Arena, or something like that.

SJU dropped their first game of the season to Iowa State out in Ames, Iowa. And in doing so they let us know why they stay at home and schedule cupcakes. This was pointed out by the TV announcers.
Get Zach on the phone!

Though not officially on the slate, potential Diamond Head 2nd round opponent Utah State remains unbeaten, with a KenPom floating in the 40s (right around where St. Louis is). Would be a great game for us, but we'll need to beat SMU first (and we'll be favored vs SMU).

Just want to give Marist some kuddos. I watched a replay of their game in London vs. Maine last night on ESPN. The Red Foxes were down by 6 with 2:47 left to play and managed to pull out a one point win. I was quite impressed with my first look at Patrick Gardner. Very mobile big at 6'11" and 245 pounds who shoots the 3, passes well and is a force in the paint. He had 27 points, 9 rebounds and looks to be a matchup nightmare.

Princeton (7-2) won at home 69-58 over Lafayette. The Tigers started off their season losing to Hofstra and Navy, but now have reeled off 7 straight wins. Since their next game is home versus Monmouth, they may well have an 8 game win streak when the Gaels play them next week. Mount St. Mary's lost at home 69-61 to American University. Deandre Thomas led the Mountaineers with 18 points. Box score: mountathletics.com/sports/mens-basketball/stats/2022-23/american/boxscore/7258

I sense if we are favored when we play them, it would only be a few points. SMU athletic team who play solid defense. They did take some rushed shots and had some turnovers. I sense we can wear them down with our depth but Phelps, the point guard needs to be accounted for. He’s tough.

Phelps is a bad pg, he shoots first, second then thinks about passing third. The perfect of PG us to destroy, avg 2.8 ass and 2.8 t/o.

We might be favored but don’t expect -7 or -8. More like -2 or -3. They played a bit undisciplined but they have size and they are athletic.
