Totally disagree, we will be favored, they are a bad team. Phelps is a bad pg, he shoots first, second then thinks about passing third. The perfect of PG us to destroy, avg 2.8 ass and 2.8 t/o. We might be favored but don’t expect -7 or -8. More like -2 or -3. They played a bit undisciplined but they have size and they are athletic. Vegas stcks pretty close to KenPom. And KP has us favored by 9.

Which again makes me ask, why do so many people want us to go to this conference? 16 teams, much harder, way more expensive and doesn't help us get at large every year, only sometimes

Typically 2-3 teams, a few years with 5-6 teams. I agree I don’t think we are ready for the A10 and I’m not convinced it is the right move, however it is hard to see how it wouldn’t help our tournament resume.

So Iona must go 18-2 or better every year as MAAC schools have 0 commitment to getting better. The A-10 is extremely down right now and still has 11 teams rated higher than our 2nd highest rated team in QU. If the opportunity is realistic it really is a no brainer from a basketball standpoint. Also, we would be the 2nd highest rated team per KP behind SLU and we just beat them by 22. So I think Pitino would probably compete in that conference.

All comes down to what level of financial commitment Iona is prepared to make. If Iona is going to commit to the A10, it needs to be prepared with the right long-term budget to support the extra costs that come with taking the step up — e.g. increased travel expenses, recruiting, payroll expenses, etc.
If we can support the move with the proper budget, it makes a lot of sense. Otherwise, it is not worth making the move and we will be setting ourselves up for failure.
P.S. There is no doubting the quality of the A10 from a basketball standpoint.

Think about transporting/housing the baseball and softball teams to Davidson, Dayton, St Louis, etc. Very difficult decision.

Thomas likely needed a few more teammates. If you had Thomas plus 109 you covered!!’

Alabama knocks off #1 Houston with a mix of guys we beat last year and a bunch of freshmen. I thought we’d get them on the schedule going forward, given RP’s Winged Foot love fest with their coach.
