Watched St Mary’s vs BYU. PTSD inducing game as St Mary’s nearly choked up their gigantic lead. St Mary’s is talented but looked incompetent against a full court press.
BYU is coached by the center from RP's '96 title team. Not surprising to hear they press. Some mock brackets have Iona vs. St. Mary's in the first round of the Dance. That wouldn't sound like a bad draw for Iona based on your takeaway. New Mexico was able to beat St. Mary's earlier this season @ St. Mary's, of note.
Hofstra was best team in the conference , this is what scares me for Iona
Fret not.
RP lives for the postseason. There really haven't been many better than him in the history of the college game at conference tourneys and NCAA tourneys. He was 17-1 in the SEC Tournament at Kentucky, back when the SEC was a beast, which is mind-blowing. He gets his players to take on a different mindset and strategy in the postseason.
Just two years ago, Iona became the first ever No. 9 seed to reach and win the MAAC championship game with RP at the helm. And last year, Murray (Rider) blatantly travelled (you can't jump stop backwards, lol) and likely committed a 3-second violation to boot, so it should've been a 70-69 Iona win, but I digress. (And last season's Iona team wasn't in the same league as this year's squad, per KenPom metrics.)
I wouldn't be surprised to see Iona steamroll all three opponents this week. I'm actually kind of expecting as much. Let's not forget this team has won 11 in a row! I don't care what conference you're in, it takes a darn good team to generate such a win-streak. It will be 14 consecutive wins come Selection Sunday.

Iona was a nine seed because we didn't play enough games 17-1 in 9 years? We will make it 14 in a row against teams ranked 100 spots behind us

There was a dubious non-call in the last minute of the Rider game at home this season, too. We had a lead with like 30 seconds left, Daniss was fouled (what is typically called a foul) on the perimeter, no-call, the ball was stolen for an easy transition basket. Personally, I've had my fill of dubious non-calls going against us late in games v. Rider.

buckets3, you continue to impress me with your BB knowledge. You keep it up and I'm going to call you buckets4.
VERY surprised that we haven't heard from 86. A coach that he's been raving about over the years, Tobin Anderson, is going Dancing with FDU. Congrats to both.
Tobin is a very good X's and O's coach. If he recruits well over the next two seasons I expect him to get an opportunity to coach at the A-10 level or above.

Does anyone here not know it's hard to win a basketball tournament? Any tournament? If the answer is no, everyone here gets that, I'm thinking there is no need to keep repeating it right before the tournament.

Stop crying. If we're up by 12 the dubious non-calls are meaningless.
