There was a dubious non-call in the last minute of the Rider game at home this season, too. We had a lead with like 30 seconds left, Daniss was fouled (what is typically called a foul) on the perimeter, no-call, the ball was stolen for an easy transition basket. Personally, I've had my fill of dubious non-calls going against us late in games v. Rider.
Stop crying. If we're up by 12 the dubious non-calls are meaningless.
True, but I still don't like them and would like not to see anymore.
RP lives for the postseason. There really haven't been many better than him in the history of the college game at conference tourneys and NCAA tourneys. He was 17-1 in the SEC Tournament at Kentucky, back when the SEC was a beast, which is mind-blowing. He gets his players to take on a different mindset and strategy in the postseason.
Just two years ago, Iona became the first ever No. 9 seed to reach and win the MAAC championship game with RP at the helm. And last year, Murray (Rider) blatantly travelled (you can't jump stop backwards, lol) and likely committed a 3-second violation to boot, so it should've been a 70-69 Iona win, but I digress. (And last season's Iona team wasn't in the same league as this year's squad, per KenPom metrics.)
I wouldn't be surprised to see Iona steamroll all three opponents this week. I'm actually kind of expecting as much. Let's not forget this team has won 11 in a row! I don't care what conference you're in, it takes a darn good team to generate such a win-streak. It will be 14 consecutive wins come Selection Sunday.
Iona was a nine seed because we didn't play enough games 17-1 in 9 years? We will make it 14 in a row against teams ranked 100 spots behind us
17-1 in just six eligible postseasons at that job. He took over a program on probation (which he left the Knickerbockers for), which was banned from postseason play its first two seasons. Coached a total of eight seasons (not nine) in Lexington, Ky.
Given he took over a program utterly destroyed by NCAA sanctions, and was handed a team with eight scholarship players the first season, that 17-1 mark is one one of the most impressive things I've ever seen in the sport. The first SEC Tourney Championship (1992), with a bunch of holdovers he didn't recruit and one really good one he did recruit, advanced past teams like Alabama with Latrell Sprewell and Robert Horry, and LSU with Shaquille O'Neil. His squad blew every opponent out in that tourney. Nothing short of amazing. If you ever get a chance, go to YouTube and watch the 1995 SEC Tournament title game. One of the all-time classic college basketball games. Insane comebacks in regulation and overtime by RP's team. Two HOF coaches with awesome teams (Nolan Richardson and Arkansas, the other).

buckets3, you continue to impress me with your BB knowledge. You keep it up and I'm going to call you buckets4.
Lol, reminds me of an Antoine Walker quote (former RP player at Kentucky and the Celtics). When asked why he shot so many 3-pointers, 'Toine said, "because there aren't any fours."
Vermont (22-10) won at home 79-57 over Binghamton in the America East semifinals.
Mount St. Mary's (13-19) down 33-26 at the half, won in overtime 67-66 over # 9 seed Canisius (10-20). Dakota Leffew led the Mountaineers with 15 points and George Tinsley had a double-double, with 10 points and 11 rebounds. Jalen Henderson was tops for the Griffs with 20 points and Xzavier Long had a double-double, with 14 points and 14 boards. The Mount shot 28-60 (46.7%) overall but just 3-12 (25%) from the free throw line, while Canisius shot 12-13 (92.3%) from the charity stripe. #11 Marist (11-19) won 61-50 over #6 Manhattan (12-18). Patrick Gardner was the sole Red Fox who scored in double figures, tallying 22 points with 11 rebounds. Ant Nelson was tops for the Jaspers with 15 points and Josh Roberts added 11 points with 14 rebounds. Box score: goredfoxes.com/sports/mens-basketball/stats/2022-23/manhattan/boxscore/13454
C of C came back late to pull out a win and Oral Roberts absolutely stomped ND St.
Drake, Oral Roberts and C of C probably all getting 12s which leaves 1 open spot. The rest of the teams vying for that last 12 are pretty close in rankings to Iona:

VCU, Dayton (A10)
Kent St, Toledo (MAC)
Yale (Ivy)
Utah Valley, Sam Houston St. (WAC)
None of them play today. Let's go Gaels!
Yup, we knew all along we'd need a TON of help to get to a 12. There are still some random bracketologists putting us at 14, though, so we can still root for the help.
Also--NCAA committee says they move teams a seed line for intrigue, so something to watch--currently Kentucky is trending toward a 6 seed, but if they finish strong and play their way to a 5, do NOT be shocked if we were to get overseeded to a 12 to put Pitino against the Wildcats. Committee does stuff like that. Oh, side reason for that matchup would be Kentucky losing to a MAAC team in LAST year's tourney. As a matter of fact, if Kentucky REALLY finishes strong and finds its way all the way up to a 4, you can pretty much lock in that we'd be playing them.
The greatest poster in the history of the MAAC as determined by THREE separate polls.

While the committee likes intrigue/ storylines, I think the more plausible scenario could be a Larranaga / Pitino match up of 70+ year old coaches with NY roots or the Catholic/Jesuit angle, which would include teams like Xavier or Gonzaga.

Indeed. Wouldn't surprise me at all.
Wildcats have had an interesting season. Started 10-6, but like the Gaels, were kind of late bloomers defensively. They've also had injuries. Don't know if I've recalled a college hoops season with so many injuries across the board. Seems like a lot of guards have been getting injured across the land.
New Mexico plays Wyoming tonight in the Mountain West Tourney.
While the Gaels have won 11 straight, the Lobos have dropped 8 of their past 11 (a few of those were barnburners/backbreakers/buzzer-beaters). UNM started hot, and at one point was 14-0.
St. Bonaventure (14-18) lost 65-54 to Davidson at the Barclays Center in the A10 tournament.
New Mexico (22-10) won 87-76 over Wyoming at a neutral site in the Mountain West tournament.
#10 St. Peter's (13-17) upset #2 Rider (16-14) 70-62. Jaylen Murray led the Peacock attack with 22 points. Mervin James was the high scorer for the Broncs with 13 points. Box score: stats.statbroadcast.com/broadcast/?id=459743
