They should reinstate the rule that you get an automatic NIT bid if you win your regular season title. With so many BCS teams snubbing the NIT bid, what purpose did it serve to remove it from the mids?

Have a feeling that, after the snub, this thread will slow down! Generally agree. I think we all wanted to see how this whole year played out, which is why this kept going. Of course if St John's turns out stinking next year it may start up again, but really, does anyone believe they won't make the NCAAs next year? St John's to people outside of NY have any clout? Last time Pitino was relevant high school seniors were in 5 th grade?

It's controlled by the big conferences now, nit isn't independent, so they still get the money whether it is the big east 4 th school or Xavier, same with other conferences They are trying to separate d1 just like football

But will they be disqualified later?

This thread will end right after Pitino leaves SJU for another school. So another year or two.

He went from a one-bid league to a three-bid league and still couldn't make it in. Would have been dancing as a 7 seed or higher….It is kind of sad… 😀

When the committee checked St. John's NET and KenPom they found this:Rick Pitino rips St. John's basketball during unfiltered press conference: 'The most unenjoyable experience I've had' "If I said I was disappointed, that would be the understatement of the year," Pitino said. "Our lateral quickness and our toughness is just something I've never witnessed in all my years of coaching.
"We are so nonathletic that we can't guard anybody without fouling ... And really it's not about losing. Even winning, when I watch the film, I see unathletic plays, I see people that don't handle the ball, that are just interested in taking quick shots. It's been a disappointing year." The committee was looking to select quick, tough, athletic teams that can handle the ball and St. John's didn't profile well.

Biggest laugh from Pitino's comments yesterday after the Johnnies not getting selected: "I don't make excuses".

FURP Jr a prime Louisville candidate. Shaheen Hooloway reportedly in the mix as well.
