Like many of you, I registered a few days ago and got an e-mail at 4:30, today, but not from Iona, so I didn't find it until just before seven. Guy did a GREAT job in holding things together. To let TA know when he mentions Steve Burtt, he has to say father or son, and if he did, I didn't hear him. TA has a great personality and it comes across even on Zoom. Had no idea who Jim Oakes (Sp?) was, as I don't think I've ever seen him. Believe he said he's also president of the Alumni Association, and we're lucky to have him. Guy presented my question about PS games, but TA said he likes playing scrimmages, but glossed over the fact we can have two of each, but said there was a possibility of one exhib. As HB said/inferred it was a good first effort.

Again, if you registered and then never got an email with the link for the zoom, please PM or text me. Iona's had issues with email distribution, and it appears most got the link, so I want to look into those who didn't!

Don't know whether to chalk this up to coincidence or coach speak. But in talking about the team TA, more than once, stressed the importance of retaining players. And yet, when asked if there were any players that have stood out in the first, or so, month of practice he named the three guys who won't be returning. This way, he doesn't ruffle any feathers. Anyone have an opinion?

Great call last night and I learned quite a bit more about the NIL challenges from the "inside" as well. I thought of another question after the call ended that ties to overall support of the program. Not sure if this is the right forum though.
Does Iona look at all of the donation avenues holistically to determine the level at which an individual gives? As an example, I gave quarterly last year to Iona Basketball through the various giving campaigns including an employer match. I also gave to the Dr. Baile scholarship fund and the NIL. The NIL contribution was admittedly probably the smallest of the group. I also have two season tickets. I would think any "perks" associated to various tiers should include all avenues of giving. Is anyone aware of how it all comes together - my guess is this may be a work in progress which is fine also.

Advancement keeps pretty good track of overall donations. NIL is not part of that since it is managed separately.

Anyone have an opinion? I noticed this as well, and no mention of "Biggie", who I am expecting to be one of our best players.

Anyone have an opinion? I wouldn't look into that too much--citing the oldest players as the guys who will stand out the most isn't exactly a shock. Also, he did say something to the effect that he is high on all 4 freshmen. It's of course impossible to know how it'll all work out, but the fact that they are already strategizing how to keep as many of those 10 guys as possible is a good thing. To Tobin's point, if we can even keep 7 or 8 of them, we're that much ahead of the game next season!

I think TA concentrated on the seniors, since this is a fairly young roster, and acknowledged their leadership so far.
What I found refreshing and just brutally honest, was Jim and Tobin mentioning how last year's team suffered from a couple players that were selfish and quite frankly took on the role of mercenaries. There were posts on the board and on Twitter, "suggesting" what was going on, and they pretty much confirmed it all, including squashing the "Iona didn't pay me all my money" bullshit. Kudos to them for being honest

My biggest concern now is thinking along the same lines as Joebird.

Another question I wish was asked. Coach, if you had the team participate in a 3pt shooting contest, who do you think would be the two finalists?
