Professional league now. Allow the players to be professionals, retain agents and drop the requirement that they are enrolled in the school.

I know many are still pushing to try and move to A10.
Couple things to keep in mind:
-The actual huge cost a move like That would take. All sports involved.
-NIL..A10 players are getting 50-60K. Probably not all the players on the roster, likely starter and all conference type kids, though all get some type of payment.
Just to be competitive in A10, Iona would need an NIL collective of around 300K annually, to retain players as well as to entice recruits.
Between the resources needed for such a move and funding such a huge NIL, it's time to be realistic. Iona isn't close to make such a move.
Let's focus on the NIL when details are released. Per this article, to really have a NIL that would make a significant impact at the MM level, Probably need 150K+. That would help retain kids and for future recruits.

Agree that right now A10 might be unrealistic but not sure I agree on the NIL funding. With big alums like Lapenta and Hynes among many others, I see no reason why we couldn’t raise a ton of money for an NIL collective. Just an outsider looking in so could be wrong but just my opinion.

I agree, on paper, it looks like Iona could fund a significant NIL. thing is lots, if not all MAAC programs, have deep pocket donors. Yet, not one program has a significant NIL. Siena started theirs like a month or more ago. Word is they only have like 40K. Easier said than done. No idea what group is putting the NIL together, but just guessing it's going to take funding from donations and from local businesses. I just appreciate a group has taken on the task to get one up and running. I'm sure it's not an easy task

Will we be able to get a NIL together for our debate team? Chutes and ladders? How about one for the brainiacs?

SJU NIL collective stormmarketingny.com/index.php "Storm Marketing was founded in May 2022 by four St. John’s Law School alumni, Vin Ochani, Adam Dressler, Justin Kramer and Richard Seelig each with a strong knowledge and connection to the St. John’s community. When Storm Marketing was created, it was a time of great change for the college landscape. With the introduction of NIL deals, college athletes could now make profit not directly for their play, but instead for their name, image, and likeness. This was a monumental change, and the team at Storm Marketing recognizes this. We are looking to create, expand, and enhance NIL opportunities for current student-athletes, as well as help the businesses, services, and people that show support for the athletes.?

Pandora’s Box opening. Will injuries become Workers Comp cases? So much to think about. Probably just me. But I come onto this board so that I DON'T have to think.

I practice mind reading on the MAAC Board mainly on Siena alums. It's soooo easy!
