I think we tend to overlook the great job that Matt has done as Iona's AD. And I thought about this, this morning after reading sharkey's 'take' on yesterday's golf outing and before the sad news about Manhattan's NCAA problems and probation. What got my attention was the sharkman's description of TA and his staff along with our new Men's LaCrosse coach and one of the Women's assistant coaches, whose father was Villanova's HC of their Women's team for 41 years before retiring. And I realized what a great hiring job Matt does on an annual basis, as Mid Major schools often serve as a stepping stone for the Majors. I think that much of Matt's success is due to his own staff, who to a man or woman, are a credit to Iona, and all seem to work well together. I consider our Athletic Department a very well run ship with Captain Matt at the helm. P.S. Just hope I'm not jinxing him.

I doubt you're jinxing him; the athletic department is clean. I do, however, think mids will be more closely monitored for awhile in light of Manhattan's issues.

Remember a staff is only as good as it's leader. Hats off to Matt!

Matt G is a wonderful AD and a true asset for the university. Just keep SHU and SJU’s hands off him!

The compliance vacancy surprises me, I thought having someone in that position was a requirement. If true, that's plain stupid and an invitation for trouble.

Nothing but respect for Matt. We are indeed lucky to have him. Hard worker and determined. The whole turnaround between Pitino and Anderson was nothing but amazing. On top of that losing Coach Chambers on top of that and again landing a great replacement was heroic work. Love our entire administrative staff also. Whatever they are paid - it's not enough.

I agree with all your comments and based on my many years of working with many of them I was able to witness first hand their competence and dedication to Iona and her mission.
