As we are a little bored at this time of the year, lets have some fun.
Tell us who you would pick, from a pool of players from the Cluess and Pitino eras, if you could build a team of players for a single season run. Pick any 15 players (13 + 2 reserves) from those past teams. Stats I use for my picks are from their most productive season at Iona. Provide some reasons for your picks. This was harder than I thought. A few great players were left off my list.

SG/SF - Tyson Jolly - 14.6 pts, 4.8 reb 37.4 3P% - MAAC Player of the Year. All-Met First Team Selection. Amazing athlete, great ability. I can only imagine what he could do with this team getting him the ball. SF- Isaiah Williams - 13.3 pts and 6.1 reb - 44.2 3P%- Scored over 1,000 points, 39.7% lifetime 3P%, could guard 1 thru 4. Too emotional but ability is undeniable. PF/C - Nelly Junior Joseph - 14.9 pts and 9.3 reb - 2X All-MAAC first team selection. MAAC Rookie of the Year. All-Met 2nd Team Selection.
Great roster. Who are the best few you considered but left off?
Guys I gave serious consideration, some more than others of course:
Isaiah Ross - 18.4 pts, 3.9 Reb and shot 38.3 3P%. All-MAAC first team selection. All-MET First Team Selection. He would have slid in in front of BJL or Dylan, but we needed a lock down defender and an agitator/pocket knife that could assume different roles.
Aaron Rountree - 9.4 pts, 7.8 rebounds. Tough defender with length. Athletic. His numbers do not reflect what he brought to the team. Total team guy. For me it came down to Aaron or Dylan. I think my love for Dylan being a pain in the ass might have blinded my judgement. Aaron was a very good player.
Tajuan Agee- 14.7 pts, 7.2 boards 78.7% from the FT line. Tough but could prone. Had some of the angriest dunks I have seen. Might have had as much potential as any of our bigs. Could hit the three, It came down to TA vs Jordan Washington, Washington was overly emotional at times and also foul prone, and TA was steadier, JW's performances in up games was what put him over the edge, 22pts and 12 reb vs Oregon, Averaged 22 & 10.5 ve Nevada, 18 & 6 vs URI, 26 & 12 vs Iowa State. TA was a better FT shooter and better defensively. I could go either way between these two players. Both were great IMHO. If I am a fan I give the nod JW... if I was a coach i would probably go with Agee as I might not want to deal with JW's emotional outbursts.
Schadrac Casimir - 14.5 pts, shot 42.3% 3P% and 89.5% from the FT Line. MAAC Rookie of the Year selection. Pure shooter and impacted the Iona record books- 1st 3P%, 2nd FT%, One dimensional player, but he was amazing at what he did best.
Daniss Jenkins - Averaged 15.6 points, 4.4 reb, 4.9 assists and a 36.1 3P%. 2nd Team All MAAC selection. All-Met second team Selection. Great player, just had too many legends ahead of him. Maybe he would have changed my mind if stuck around another year, but I doubt it.
Asante Gist- 13.4 points, Shot 33.3% 3P%. Shot 89.2% FT's. All-MET Second Team Selection. MAAC Tourny MVP. Great player, just too much in front of him.

Really perceptive and thoughtful analysis. One downside to Agee was propensity for turnovers.

Great job, i love seeing the stats i would start Machado Clayton Crawford Van Eyck Washington
might not be the best 5, but glover and washington together would kill the spacing
Tajuan Agee probably makes 1st list if he has either Cluess or Pitino as HC his Sr season.
One player I would have on "just missed" list is Deyshonee Much. Yeah, he had that suspension, but he was a 3-time MAAC champion. Made big shots in MAAC tournament. I remember one great layup (3pt play?) late in a MAAC championship game.
