Just saw on Instagram, president Carey reminding us that today is Iona's 83rd birthday. And even MORE IMPORTANTLY he announced that Iona is establishing a campus in Ireland on a 400 acre campus in County Mayo. What a birthday present. Hopefully, someone who knows their way around a computer can link the Instagram video onto this Board. The news is just fantastic.

Hate to be corny but I can hear a heavenly choir singing, "When Irish Eyes are Smiling", and I notice some of the choir members, there's Brothers Driscoll, Loftus, Cornelia, Ryan, McKenna, Doyle and Doyle, Glennon, Kiley, Novak, and many more that I recognized but forget their names. I did notice that the choir master was Blessed Edmund Rice.

Wait until you get a look at Westport House. Story now up on the official Iona site and on Ch. 29 on Fios.

A friend told me that this must have been in the works for a few years, or why else would you have a president named Seamus.

In deference to SLG, I'll try this. I hate to be CRAZY, but looking back to Iona's birthday, I won't ask everyone to sing Happy Birthday, but rather join in with Frank Sinatra singing, "It was a very good year". And whether you are 17, 21, 35 or in the autumn of the year, consider:
*The year started with Iona College becoming Iona University. *Both the Men's and Women's BB teams won MAAC Championships. *Both Hoop teams are now lead by Knight's in Shinning Armor. *Academic Excellence was recognized. *The year ended with Iona Ireland.
Indeed, it was a very good year.

SLG, thanks. The county is beautiful, and it's no wonder that the Brits wanted to hold on to Ireland. Saw a couple of pictures of the Ashford Castle, and while I can't confirm it, I've been told that the Castle is owned by Jack Mulcahy, as in the Mulcahy Center at Iona. Maybe someone knows. Thanks, again.

I watch a lot of English murder mysteries and they often feature a very rich victim/suspect who lives in a beautiful mansion. If that type of show is filmed in Ireland, could Westport House be used as a fictional home? Inquiring minds want to know.
