Jaden, from an Iona perspective, picking us second looks to be an optimistic evaluation. Now, you might have seen the team practice, so that gives you an edge on all of us not named Guy. But, w/o a first teamer, and only one player on the three teams, it still seems like a reach. As a fan, I'd be happy if the League finished as you predict, and hope that Rider continues to under perform in the post season.
And, thanks for a great job. B/t/w, for Iona the season starts three weeks from tonight.

MAAC coaches have traditionally rewarded seniors/veterans/returning players in the past, so that’s usually how I go into every season as well. In fact, in 12 years covering the MAAC, a newcomer has only been a preseason all-league pick once (Shavar Reynolds at Monmouth), most transfers don’t usually get that recognition sight unseen. |

Guy, thanks for giving me another opportunity to prove how little I know about MAAC BB. As a fan I ALWAYS (at least usually) think Iona will finish first, but from what I think about the other MAAC teams, and from Jaden's article I come away with the following; *Rider has the most returning talent. *SPU has an up and coming coach. *Marist has a PG to build around and in the last couple of years John Dunne has recruited two very good players, Ituka and Gardner, along with their current PG, so he might have another surprise in store. *Niagara has the second best MAAC coach, imo, and he has Jaden's PS POY. So these are the teams that I think will finish near the top. But, remember what my granddaughters say about me/ "He's wise beyond his years, But dense between his ears." |
