Braziller is also buddies with Masiello. When Rickey McGill committed to Manhattan Braziller worth an article on how he was going to be the savior of the program:
Masiello has the staff leaking every time they visit a school practice or try and recruit a player who has committed elsewhere, hoping it will cause problems with the other school. He is effectively a PR man and recruiting tool for SJU.
It's very obvious Braziller has a problem with Iona. My first thought was he didn't like Cluess, but now I am not sure what it is. The only other thing I can think of is he knows Iona has been the best NY program in the metro area the last decade, and he sees Iona as a threat to St. John's, but I doubt this is the reason either. I wouldn't care but he now has big clout at the NY post, and they give a good amount of coverage to college basketball. So he single handingly is hurting Iona. Would love to know SID's thoughts on this, but we know he can't divulge that. I do know my disgust for him is as high as ever!

It is strange. Writes posts about Hofstra occasionally. Almost like he pretends Iona doesn't exist.
His response to a few Iona fans on Twitter, I guess trying to justify his cheap shot of Iona, that he knocked Mullin and Anderson in the past is Comical. That's the idiots job, to question the job a coach is doing.

I'm not done with the prick yet
Go get him Sharkey!
I refuse to follow him, but basically see everything on Twitter and in the NY post anyway. As Broguy mentions he has been very positive towards Hofstra the last few years and now seems to be doing the same with Fordham as of late, but seems to ignore Iona. He also jumped on the Tobin bandwagon during the FDU NCAA run, but has avoided him like the plague since at Iona. One of the few good things he said about Iona was right after we hired Tobin, he said "smart program", and then he went on to ignore us.
Other thing driving me crazy is that Pitino was here for 3 years but no one covered him, now you have Vaccaro kissing his ass regularly, as well as others like Goodman, who refused to cover him at all when he was at Iona.
I honestly believe we now have a better coach, and that doesn't even include his tangibles, which make him a much better person to be leading the Iona program. There seems to be a more passionate and bigger fan base developing despite having a far less famous coach. I think we are going to be very happy with the basketball program directed by him. As a negative Nelly my main fear is everything is going to work so well that we don't have him for long, but as a mid major you can't really worry about that, though there have been a few who have held on to their coach despite enormous success.
The immediate future is bright even though you won't see Braziller looking into the light!

If he gets Ionas a couple NCAA wins I think we would all accept that he's headed for bigger things. I'd sign up for that right now!

People covered Pitino regularly. We just didn’t get much access to him because we were too small for his stratosphere. And let’s not forget what happened at Siena in January.
I'll save Guy from saying it. Can the guy coach a game before we worry about him leaving, geez
Cmon so now it's not ok to talk about the future but we have a whole other thread obsessed with a guy who doesn't even coach here? Lol which one is it?

Jaden, while I hear, and mostly agree with your post, couple things to keep in mind. IMO, the only prominent journalists on Twitter who covered Iona were guys like Federman and yourself (forgetting a couple others). The same frustration journalists like yourself dealt with, was the same the diehard fans did as well. Feeling like Pitino felt he was "above" us regular folks. Justified or not, that's why you see the venom on Twitter towards Pitino as well as Braziller. Pitino died to me the date of the Siena game, when he embarrassed the Iona administration, from the morning shoot around until the post-game presser, or should I say the lack of a presser
As far as guys like Braziller, he didn't cover Iona, he covered Pitino. The accusation he made of Iona, which he stated as fact, was a disgrace.
Braziller should write an article on how SJU still owes Mike Anderson 12 million dollars. Scumbag administration with a scumbag head coach. Hope they fall back to irrelevance after Pitino is gone.
I know my memory isn't as good as it once was, but could someone remind me of what happened at Siena in January. Was that the presser that RP did not attend?

You covered him, we can always count on you! Federman and a few others with less followers like Kraetzer did as well. But the NY post hardly ever, as well as most of the NY tv, radio and newspapers, one other notable exception is Bruce Beck. You would never have known he was back from Greece and coaching just a few miles from Manhattan. Now you can’t get away from him, his slime and stench can’t be missed!
