Bump. SPU is the best team in the league. Clearly, we match up terribly against SPU. On any given day, we can beat any other MAAC team. Someone else will have to handle SPU if we have any hope at all of winning the tourney. Unless you're a believer in the sweep theory!

Bump. SPU is the best team in the league. This favors the sweep theory if we face them in the tourney. Tough to beat a team 3 times in a season. Looking for a silver lining, thought the same exact thing... only in the past Gaels were usually the giver rather than the receiver. St. Peters plays a very similar style as Iona, but today on a much advanced level... at times I thought they had 8 players on the floor against Iona's offense. Time to start an new winning streak, the MAAC tourney will be wide open.

One of the worst reffing jobs I have witnessed. They seemed to want this game to turn into a rock fight and they did whatever they could to slow the game down. St. Peters took an extra twenty or thirty seconds on every stoppage or timeout and the refs just allowed it. Horrible job.
With that said, our freshmen played like freshmen. the bigger problem was some of our older players also played like freshmen. The team was hesitant to shoot when they were open and they waited for the defense to get set before they made any moves. The dribbling into the same trap time after time was just dumb. The driving to the hoop and then hesitating shit has plagued us in other games, but today it looked like a shitty CYO team. Great shooters get their shots off quick... our guys are afraid to put the ball up unless they have a 15 foot gab between them and the defender. Also you can not run down the shooting clock with three minutes left and you are behind by 10. Overall a bad effort, a shitty execution and a shit job by all concerned. I was happy that Sultan played aggressively and had some nice plays.
The highlight of the game was watching Guy working over the refs like a fat kid working on a chocolate pie. He was relentless. The refs earned ever comment Guy had for them.
Anything can happen. We could win the tournament or we could also lose in the first game. This team is still searching for its identity and leaders to step up this late in the season... usually not a good combination.

They were brutal, uneven, and it was like they wanted the game to go as long as humanly possible. Idan was absolutely murdered on that very late drive into the paint, and no call made. Certainly not blaming the refs for today, but their approach to this one was exactly what the Peacocks would have ordered.

Ledge Life for me. Absolutely awful from start to finish. It's madness that the lineup does not change even just to find a spark aka DYLAN SAUNDERS. We will get bounced early in the tournament and anyone who had flashes is going to leave due to NIL. For mid majors its gonna be like trying to catch lightning in a bottle every season. Aside from that and no excuse for Iona's effort but the refs were bad like high school level bad. Here is to hoping for an absolute Cinderella run till then its QU representing the MAAC. I don't get the obsession with Saunders. Because he is a freshman who can develop. And aside from Panzo is our only other legit 3 PT threat.

He has literally the lowest 3-point shooting percentage of everyone who has played this season for Iona except for Williams and Adewale. Even Brice has a higher percentage from 3.

Feel bad for Shema, he did the right thing and stayed at Iona but he got hurt in the Fordham scrimmage and just isn’t anywhere near healthy since. I thank him for staying and all his contributions since he has been here. Maybe somehow we will get lucky and he will have a happy ending. But more likely he won’t but I will still always remember King Os as one of the most loyal Gaels of all time. He deserves his moment on senior night. We still never gave him the standing ovation he deserves!

The "top team" in the MAAC just got rocked twice in a row.
This season is not over.

Agree. Sultan played closer to the basket on offense for most of the game. He made some nice interior plays. Biggest bright spot. Shema minutes need to be cut, sultun and saunders need to play more maybe even together since one is a post up player and the other a stretch

Just finished the replay. Tobin was ranting and screaming at the refs. I agree there was very little preparation, strategy and adjustments today. 10 second call happened in front of him while he was yelling at ref next to him
