Just finished the replay. Tobin was ranting and screaming at the refs. I agree there was very little preparation, strategy and adjustments today.
Tobin can't hold the team by the hand the entire game. They have to learn to figure things out on their own, and be led by players, for any chance to win the MAAC Tournament. Remember Willard yelling instructions while the team was playing, where to go, who to pass to, etc. ? It was awful offense. Cluess came in, gave them freedom, and they took off.

You really think “this group” should be given freedom? They need to be instructed and mid games adjustments should be made.

This outfit is not AJ, Machado, Glover etc.
Yes, they have to start to figure things out for themselves. They've been coached. They were given a game plan going into the game. The Coach can't keep holding their hand the entire game or they will get nowhere.
Ledge Life for me. Absolutely awful from start to finish. It's madness that the lineup does not change even just to find a spark aka DYLAN SAUNDERS. We will get bounced early in the tournament and anyone who had flashes is going to leave due to NIL. For mid majors its gonna be like trying to catch lightning in a bottle every season. Aside from that and no excuse for Iona's effort but the refs were bad like high school level bad. Here is to hoping for an absolute Cinderella run till then its QU representing the MAAC.
I don't get the obsession with Saunders.
Let me introduce you to Pro Football (actually just remind you). It's an old saying that the most popular player on the team, is the backup QB. Now, fast forward to Iona BB.
Thought the officials were terrible especially with the “no calls” on our drives to the basket. Not hitting any outside shots early compounded the problem and allowed SPU to pack their defense down low. Why did coach continue to have JQ inbound the ball when it was evident he was having trouble. Also, if I’m not mistaken, we had great success last season when Os defended the inbounds passes of our opponents…
Can’t lay it all off on Quigly. He made a few mistakes, but other 4 guys weren’t doing much to get open. Standing around leaning into their defenders.
Still think it's a poor strategy to have a small/quick player inbounding the ball, when he should be the one, quick enough to get open.
Surprised that there has been very few comments about the lack of student attendance. Especially, compared to last year. We have a fan favorite type coach, who went out of his way to introduce himself (and his team) to the students. And they seemed to respond, on a personal level. But they don't come out on Game Day. Just an observation.

What’s the point in even asking? Nobody seems to care. Now since you’ve asked, get ready for all the excuses as to why they (students) don’t show. I’ll start with NFL on Sundays - oh wait, their season is over. How about school break? Oh wait, there wasn’t one this week. Good luck … P.S. Don, the sarcasm wasn’t directed at you…

I agree, but when we are scoring less than a point a minute he should get a shot, are spacing is as bad as it gets.
Kid hasn't played in a few games, appears his fate is pretty set. Plugging him in yesterday would have made things worse, not better. We didn't lose yesterday because of the play of our bigs.
The greatest poster in the history of the MAAC as determined by THREE separate polls.

The excuse du jour will be the students went home for the long weekend. Not saying it is right but that will be the new excuse.
Looking at our remaining games, three home and four away, I would think that our next three (SPU*, Rid**, MSM**) will determine if we can finish second. To do that we'll have to go 2-1 or even 3-0. And of the next three it looks like SPU will be the toughest test. Since it's at home, that's a plus, but definitely not a gimme. The Peacocks are always a tough rebounding team, and it looks like Shema won't be at full strength, assuming he plays, so we NEED Sultan to have a good game.
*Home **Away
OK, I'll ask--why are you stopping at just these 3? Surely our home game against Quinny and road game against Marist are also vital, as losing either of these would hurt us with regard to tiebreakers, as they'd be sweeps. We do have the sweep against Fairfield to counter one of them.
Bottom line for me, we need to stay in top 5, and anything after that is gravy. If we can win 3 of these next 5, then TCOB vs Manhattan and Siena to wrap up, we'll be good to go for AC.
My thought was that IF we go 3-0 or 2-1 we could build up enough momentum to carry us through the final four games. But I wasn't expecting the kind of performance that we exhibited, yesterday. Now, imo, all bets are off, and we have to take it one game at a time. Speaking for myself, I just don't know what to expect.
