Ken Kraetzer has The presser with Tobin Anderson, he really is a great interview and a very bright basketball mind. When you hear him talk you feel like he will eventually figure this out and get us on the right path! Hopeful that is the case.
Eventually sounds like a long time
Hoping next year! He has 3 years, by 25/26 if we aren’t a top maac team that will be it for Tobin. I feel somewhat confident that we will be a top team by then.
What he should know is the definition of insanity, at least one definition. And that is doing the same thing over and over and expecting a different result. This question was asked on the MAAC Board by a Siena fan. Why do Iona players drive to the basket and instead of trying to make a layup they look to pass it back for a 3pt shot, usually to Tretout or Panzo. And in the last two games both players shot a combined 7-27 from deep. And Iona scored 128 points in two games.
So, I think if we continue to run the same offense, we should expect to score in the low sixties. Of course, it's possible this is what we want the other teams to think. And our offense will look like a layup line. And when the other teams finally decide to try to stop us from attacking the rim, Panzo will demonstrate his great 3pt ability.

Couple hot takes:
Iona's shooting percentage from 2 and at the rim is poor. Very poor, especially without Gordon.think about how many times those drives to the hoop led to wild layup attempts, and when they do get fouled usually missed free throws...lol
Tobin pretty much said best chance to win is to fire away from three and hope a couple guys are hot
sharkey, my point is that our layups percentage would improve if we were really concentrating on attacking the rim, instead of having one eye on the basket and one eye looking for the two guys I mentioned. Tretout does on occasion try to score inside, but he's just not athletic enough. That is why I prefer having JA in the game. JB is very quick, but he only seems to look to pass the ball out. And JQ has, imo, a great foul line jumper, which he doesn't take, as he, more often than not, looks to drive an dish. So in AC, I guess we should expect Business as Usual. And that might be good enough for a win or two.

I just think that's the offensive game plan. Drive to the hoop, hoping to draw the defense, and kick it out to open guys and just hope a couple are hot that day
Outside of Brown there isn't any other player athletic enough that can actually get to the rim. The other guys end up with off balance attempts or getting blocked.

Brown and Aranguren are our best at finishing at the rim.

Interesting Shema played 32 minutes -- and appeared to be laboring at times -- in a game that was in no way "must-win," unlike the next one(s). He has not logged this many minutes in quite a while.

I didn’t see any significant laboring, and I thought he had more spring than he has shown so far this year. It felt right playing him, and I also think the only way we can make a run is if he is contributing.
I also felt he got a pretty good ovation from the crowd at the pre game ceremony. You could tell several fans in the crowd wanted to show extra appreciation towards him for staying and being a great teammate all year long. Would love to see him be a factor in some wins in AC.

Agree. He protected the rim well. Hope we can get 30 minutes a game from him this week -- however many games that will be. That will make a big difference.
