Saw chatter on the twitter about making it a MAAC Tournament venue. Wondering if we can play some games there. Maybe team up with the Knicks to sell DH tickets. Heard they've cleaned the place up. Who's been there recently?
Haven't been there for years:
What is the seating for basketball? How is the parking, getting in and out? How are the concessions? If we bussed students there for the 3 games a year they show up (gift tee shirt; sandwich & coke) how long of a ride? Can we adjust marketing to try to draw a broad Westchester fan base?
Any thoughts?

Its a nice venue for basketball, holds about 3,000. Parking is accessible cost about $4.00 and is about a 20 minute ride from Iona. Concession are good. There are a number of High Schools in the area, I would advertise there

Correction seats about 5000 Thanks. Is it 5k for basketball? Or 5k total capacity for other events? It’s not 5k, they say that on every web site I saw but it isn’t true. The center can maybe hold 5,000 if you allow general admission standing on the floor including where the court is. Basketball seating is about 3,000 and if you absolutely pack the place with standing room on the bottom maybe you can get to 4,000. For comparison Iona vs Seton Hall in 92 was fairly full and the attendance was 2,600.

Agree with JoeBird. I’ve read articles of high school tournaments mentioning 3,200 as a sell-out.
Haven’t been there in years, but remember the site lines for the floor seating to be horrible and certain seats had columns obstructing views. Maybe they fixed that. The upper tier balcony seating is much better for basketball.

The upper tier balcony seating is much better for basketball. That could work for us. I think we'd have to rebrand the floor though. Not sure about how that would work for us.

Even the 3200 is an exaggeration. It’s improved, but still not a venue I would view as a good space. What is the advantage?

While it is about an eight minute drive away, I only see the WCC as being fit for an occasional RS game, and not for a tournament. Also feel that parking would be a problem for a tournament.

If we can’t get students to show up consistently at Hynes and we’re concerned about the aging fan base, would make sense to explore appealing to the broader local community. As they say in business, grow or die.

So MAAC was scheduled for 3 years in AC and then re-uped for 3 more years. I believe next year is the final of those 6 years.
So regardless it appears that after next year they will prob be moving it somewhere else and hopefully go back to that old time slot.
AC was definitely better than Albany though I have to say and both are about equal distance for me.
