I never saw that, he was an amazing player. He took a last second shot in the playoffs with the suns that he missed, really believe if he made that he would have spent 5 more years in the nba. It’s a no brainer that our all time leader scorers jersey should be in the rafters, add his son our second leader scorer and it’s comical it’s not. Also if Pat Kennedy didn’t go 4 corners in the Virginia game an absolutely on fire Steve Burtt would have got us our ncaa win or more!

Ruland, Burtt and Cluess all need to be honored. Ruland and Burtt numbers retired and Cluess gets the court!

Sr. & Jr. should have that honor together, absolutely. Also would love to see Sr. added to the coaching staff. Tobin needs someone with Iona connections and who better then Steve Sr. Also talk about tough? He would add the ingredient that was so missing from recent Iona teams. Just a thought and a wish.

It is a shame with today’s NIL none of these great talents will stay at mid major programs for more than two years. Imagine Burtt, Ruland, Springer, etc. Those guys would all be playing in the SEC or ACC by their junior season!

Wonder if there is any interest from any of the 3 parties: Tobin, Burtt or Ruland, my guess is no, but again I love the thought. |
