......... in the House? Woke up this morning with a new ache in my shoulder area. Made me think of the old Chicago White Sox shortstop, Luke Appling, who was nick named, "Old Aches and Pains". Which led to names of other Major League shortstops of the fifties. And it seems that was the position where many of the players were commonly called by their nick name. Consider:
*Harold Reese, Dodgers, "PeeWee".
*John Kerr, Giants, "Buddy".
*Marty Marion, Cardinals, "Slats".
*Phil Rizzuto, Yankees, "Scooter".
I can only come up with five, but keep in mind, there were only 16 ML teams. Anyone have any others?

Cjb, thanks. Are you taking credit for driving Holiday Inn out of business? Back to shortstops of the 50's. I should have included Johnny Pesky of the Red Sox, and the Pesky Pole. And in summary, probably the top two of all time belong to George and Larry.
