Another trip around the sun has us a few days from another Iona hoops season!
If I remember last year correctly, Iona played one of their best games of the season vs CofC in that opening game.
I remember thinking Wow, that press looks mid season form and they battled to the last possession in a pretty hostile environment.
Hoping for another hot start and it continues from there!
I think we got the dudes this year to compete at the top of the conf again.

It's strange--Princeton is very, very good, and yet I'm feeling quite optimistic.

Not sure if I'm reading too much into it but Tobin has said a few times that he loves where the team is at. I don't remember him saying that as much last year before the season began.

This team will defend and rebound extremely well. Variables are how much fouling we do, how effective our press is at creating easy scoring opps, and whether we can be at least OK in the halfcourt sets.

I'm interested to see how our 3 point shooting is. I don't recall hearing Tobin discuss this in thee interviews I heard. I'm hoping that's an area that is improved from last year.

My observation, based upon videos and the open practice is that we have some VG 3pt shooters. And, while I might be reading too much into TA's reluctance to talk about our long range shooters, I am wondering if it has something to do with not tipping his hand about our early season game plans. Going into the Princeton game, I guessed that we would be about a 10 point underdog, so anything under 10 would be encouraging and over 10 discouraging.

Just checked the ESPN site to see if they had a line on the game, and, as of yet, they don't. But with their Gamecast they have a matchup predictor, and I saw something that I don't EVER remember seeing. Using roundups Princeton has a 94% chance of winning and Iona, a 6% chance. They say that's based on ESPN's Analytics. I thought you got a 10% chance just for showing up. When the line comes out, we'll see how much credence Las Vegas gives to the Matchup Predictor. Does anyone remember a number (chance of winning) in single digits?

Spread will be double digits. Right, KP has this as a 14 pt loss for Iona, and it very well could be. But a lot of this data is obviously from last year which matters very little. If anything I would prob bet the under.
