Disappointing result but a lot to like here. This team is head and shoulders better than last season’s roster. Princeton may be the best team on our schedule.

A promising game ends in typical Iona heartbreak unfortunately.
Have to be please for the most part from what we saw.
Similar game last year to start the year had our hopes up and it didn't go as hoped.
I am almost certain that will not happen again with this squad.
Big athletic team. Clean up dumb offensive mistakes and make your free throws. Will be ok.
Onto Hofstra!

Not ledge life, but blowing a 14 point lead. Ugh how many travels and missed free throws? 16 point lead?

Could have really used Barr on their best player.

Was following on ap. Rupert foul with 3 seconds? Questionable call but we got some breaks as well.

Have to give the shark man credit. Back in the July-August timeframe and we were speculating about our starting lineup and some were saying that Reeves would start at the point with Njie coming off the bench and sharkey (I believe) said that Adam wasn't coming to Iona not to start. And now we know why.
P.S. Was Menard a healthy scratch?

Yes a game of two halves! However many positives as I left the game. First and foremost we had a very good team on the ropes for a good part of the game. Yes we made some mistakes-key rebounds missed free throws but the positives out weigh the negatives. This team has no quite. They have each others backs. They compete hard. The starting five played very well together early on. Major accomplishment when playing for the first time as a unit in a game in a hostile environment. Bench did a great job when called upon. A couple of foul calls against us in second half questionable but that is not why we lost. Some missed shots close to the basket in the first half hurt us however we worked for those shots. Everyone contributed but I will say our freshmen point guard Adam was excellent. very poised for his first college game. Reeves brings speed and Biggie and Clarence, Moundi and Cometh are physical. Regarding the team-speed-physicality and the ability to compete will win Iona a lot of games. Spacing on offense and ball movement excellent. Fix what little is broke and continue to improve. Princeton head and shoulders above most teams we will play during the season. We will be a tough team to play against as the season progresses. Saying nothing about last year-this is a new year. regards to all and see you all Friday Coach Al!!

Will post more tomorrow but the couple posters who griped about timeouts were wrong. It was 14 and the game was choppy for a bit, stayed around 10, and when they hit the 3 to make it 7 we called time, and when they tied it we called time again.
