Absolutely. But, this season I am not going to be fooled with the expected return of injured players, as I'm writing both off for the OOC sked. If they return in '24 I'll be pleasantly surprised.
And speaking of injuries, on Instagram it looked like Comeh was limping coming off the court.
Found it interesting that Tobin called Winborne one of, if not the, best players on the team. Hopefully we can get him back before the New Year. If we can stay healthy, I think this team could be very very good.

overall very good effort. we will be a top 3 maac team, if we play like this all year we will be fine. reeves is supposed to be the guy but didnt ask for the ball down the stretch ball was in the freshmans hands alot at the end, after a few games of experience that will be fine with me at the end of the game you can let lee beat us, he scored 9 of the last 10 you need to double and get the ball out of his hands probably the best player we face all year
"The saddest words in verse or pen, are the words, What Might Have Been."
Both teams had a VG PG, but only one team was experienced, and IMO that was the difference. While, no one answered my question of why Justin Menard didn't play, I'm guessing, Coach's decision. So, if we don't suffer any more injuries, we have a 10 man rotation. Last night, it looked to me that Jo Jo Wallace suffered from Opening Night Jitters, and since he's a freshman that's understandable. But, I'm hoping that come Friday, we'll see a more confident Jo Jo on the court. And, if not Friday, soon after.
Last year, we shot free throws at about 65%, and last night 64%. While that's the same, I feel much better when we go go to the line as Yaphet Moundi's 1-6 played a big part of our 64%. Does anyone know how he shot free throws in Juco?
Just a guess, when our offense is running on all cylanders (Sp?) Reeves will score 20+.
It's easy to say that this team is better than last year's team, and when we talk rebounding and physical play, it's true. And we are quicker and faster, but based upon one game, we shot threes better, last year. But that may change as our ability to attack the rim might give us more open threes. Noticed last night that we had open looks from the top of the key and passed on shooting.
Objectively, the future looks bright, and there is no doubting that we have a fun group to watch.

Agree with all of this but we do also play Tucker DeVries at West Virginia who is a damn good player as well. Lee is absolute stud though. Some of the shots he made down the stretch were extremely difficult, especially the step back over Patterson and mid range pull up over Rupert...Was very impressed with him. Clean up the silly turnovers from the second half and we definitely have a squad to be proud of.
Overall, pleasantly surprised with how cohesive the team looked, particularly in first half. I was surprised that Bundy had 11 minutes (got his money's worth with 4 fouls). I also thought Jungers looked very comfortable out there. Should be a fun season.

Definitely Also: 12 assists in first half & only 2 in secomd
changed the offense
So I'm going to counter this whole "we slowed down", "we changed the offense" narrative.
Princeton made adjustments on the defensive end. They started double teaming the post, which caused turnovers. Princeton also did a better job on dribble penetration, which stalled us in the backcourt more. This led to us not making shots, and unfortunately the Gael who spent the most time at the line in the 2nd half was Moundi, the one guy we have who won't make them regularly I fear. So, we're not flowing or scoring, which means we're not pressing, and we are an energy team.
So, I don't think we changed anything, I think Princeton changed the way the game was flowing a bit, particularly during that one stretch.
Princeton is a really, really good program and team. Sweet 16 2 years ago, 24-5 season last year. They returned more players, including 2 guys who could make NBA rosters next season. They made adjustments at the half, and found a way to survive.
I know this is an Iona board, but sometimes what happens in a game has to do with the opponent.

Agree re Reaves, and I did ask about that in the presser (which is on the Iona site BTW). Tobin agrees, but he also didn't have a major problem with Njie's opportunities late. Reaves was the one who stemmed the tide when we were on a drought, and I think that will be a learning moving forward for both him and the team, he's the one guy who can end droughts.
Also agree re finding a way to get the ball out of Lee's hands late, though he was quite effective at setting up his teammates as well. Hey, it's what happens when the best player on the floor isn't on your team. Also would have loved to have had Barr out there for that moment too, just to see what would have happened.

Was hoping Jungers was put out there during that big scoring drought. Looks like the kid is a sniper.

I should be able to wipe the chat room clean. If not, I'll set up a new room.
